If I learn to draw traditionally, will those skills transfer over to digital? What about the other way around? I don't want to waste time learning pencil and paper when my goal is to draw digitally if those skills don't transfer from one medium to another. Thanks for your advice

All of the fundemental skills will carry over back and forth, the only thing that wont carry are medium specific things like how to mix real paint or how to customize your brushes digitally etc.

You meaning this literally or metaphorically? I'm woodcarving and not drawing yet (want to finish at least one wood carving before switching hobbies) and I don't think anything in it is transferrable- for one, it's 3D and for two you spend hours-to-days doing what would be chicken scratching on paper then fixing cleaning that up with sandpaper.
