Because you can get better anon. I was probably the worst artist on this board when I started out, couldn’t even draw a box. Now, a few years later, I’ve improved a bunch, ascended /beg/ and I’m still improving. You can too, but you have to make the choice.

Do you stop yourself from exercising because there's someone out there who could always do more reps than you?

You guys get demotivated so easily. Just accept the fact that in a world with 7 billion people, there's always going to be someone better than you. Stop being a bitch and work hard to reach their level.

>> No.3873160

first of all why would you care what people here think? most of them are just idiot begs who can't draw
just don't post your art here, do your own thing
in fact you would do much better to quit 4chan altogether, take some classes, this place is just a timesink

>> No.3873162

>>3873160
plus the people here act mean and tough
it's just the "culture" here, they probably compensate for being pussies in real life, in real life they would not say any of these things probably
again just don't post your art here, problem solved
plus if you are doing art just for approval of others, you might as well quit

>> No.3873191

Just don't think about it man. If you stop now you'll never know what you could've achieved.
You might achieve nothing though, which would suck.

You're not trying in order to please others, you're trying in order to get better. Those people that were better than you posted their work to get crucified in order to learn what to get better at.

/ic/ calls things bad or ignores them based on subject matter or stylistic choices, or talks shit on your art because they vaguely don't like it, or just for the sake of talking shit. There are a few genuinely autistic crabs here who think this is a competition so they shoot down other artists, or maybe they do this ironically but who knows.
Overall this is a hentai board with a bit of concept art and a few fine artists sprinkled in. If you do something else it's like posting non furry in a furry place.

Every now and then you can get useful criticism which is almost impossible to find elsewhere, but you have to be at least good enough to sort the good criticism from the chaff. I have a thin skin but I still browse here.
Also most of the time I comment I like the thing just fine but I try to be as critical as possible to give as much feedback as I can. I do it politely but it sounds harsh anyway.

my take is basically that you can safely ignore people who don't use their names online because
or in the case of /ic/ who don't post their work etc.
a forum style site with history would be better imo
if people don't take risks for their opinions e.g. if you see some "socialist" or vice versa online posting something controversial without using their name their opinion is basically worthless, so ignore and block desu

It would be ideal if everyone posted their work to back up what they say, but posting your work on an anonymous board is like attaching your name to your post. Of course people don't always want to do that. And when you get to a "pyw" argument the thread usually has turned to bickering already. Then you pyw and nobody replies or they pussy out of posting theirs.

Stop being so hard on yourself. Consider your experience and opportunities in life. Some people are naturally born more talented and in a better position for creative oppurtunity on top of starting early in their practice. I didn't take a real art class until juinior high, and even then, I wasn't seriously drawing until my freshmen year of high school. I look at my art now with the context that I only got "woke" about my terribadness 8 years ago and thats when I actually started trying hard to get better. I felt like before I had to be professional quality before I could legally buy a drink, but I'm more content with my internediateness now because I can see incremebtal improvement to the drawings I make today, and it's just a matter of time, persistence, and experience before I'm the maestro kid-me dreamed and has to live up to.

We're all on our own paths. Art takes time, and it is not kind to the poor and unfortunate. Don't give up and abandon your calling because some people are better and more privileged. You're going to run into that in any profession you choose because it's competition and that's how the world works. However, you don't have to play that game. Treat your old work as the only competition worth fighting against and just focus on what moves you, not what you think moves other people. You'll be a lot happier in your work and surprise yourself with the improvement

Nothing is free of critique, and especially here. You should get that when you see people shitting on Ruan Jia or KJG. People here are insane when it comes to critique and will nitpick your shit down to the tiniest details.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but don't come here expecting anything else than crabs and slaps in the face.

Eh most of the "critique" on this board is "her elbows are pointy" tier
You can nit-pick anything
