Your 'advice' is vague, arbitrary, and a waste of everyone else's time.

If you have a bad taste, no one will like your art(if you care about that), and more importantly, you'll not like your art yourself and think that you lack in skills while it might potentially not be the case. Not saying that you should ditch the fundamentals, of course, but just the fundamentals is pretty bland(or straight out garbage) unless you have an innately good taste, in which case, good for you.

The fundamentals are like learning a language to become a better writer. Just because you know how to write well in that language doesn't mean what you write is interesting. You will also find those who aren't fluent in the language but write better stories. But the more you understand the language the more tools you have to express yourself.

I think the artist started painting the guy on the left and continued making the figures smaller as they went back but he didn't realize the table turns so he continued making them smaller as they turn and get closer to the viewer

the irony here is that painting is an example of rendering skills without knowledge of fundamentals. The painting looks like shit because it's fundamentally wrong. Your argument is shit, go study loomis and feel bad.

>He likely spent many hours and didn't think it was wrong at all.
Don't tell me you've never done something for hours only to realize that you were fucking up the entire time.
I bet you can find one work of art you made that, upon further inspection, you realize was blatantly bad this whole time.
It can happen even to the best of us.

>It actually reminds me of that one meme image on /ic/ with the broken pose.
Don't know exactly what you're referring to. Can you post the image?

I understand what you mean, I have seen artists that had good qualities while still having a lot of problems with fundies (Gildedguy, for example, can animate beautifully, but perplexingly still can't draw faces to save his life, even though he has some understanding of construction and depth in drawing), but if they did understand them fully the great qualities of their artwork would be increased tenfold because they can communicate their ideas so much more clearly and have more tools to work with.
