that's not a redraw, btw. I just chose pics that looked similar.
But most importantly, that doesn't mean that I don't draw bs still today. 40% of what I draw still ends up bad, because I either didn't spent enough time sketching or used no references/ exercised that certain pose enough or didn't had enough inspiration. You have a lot of studies, but no completed personal works. Loosen up and draw something for yourself for fun, but put your all into it. Do a full body of an anime character or your oc or a cute girl or whatever, set her on some sort of interesting background, and make it look as good as you possibly can. And whatever you draw, make sure it's something you'll actually enjoy doing so you'll have the willpower to complete it and do everything in your power to make it look good.
It's great that you're focusing on studies and your fundies, but unless you can put them into play on a completed piece, you're not going to be able to reach your full potential.

Please tell me what you did so I can follow in your footsteps:
What books/other sources did you learn from?
How often do you draw?
What supplies did you use to make the stuff on the right?

If this is actually a month's progress, you are absolutely amazing, and need to find a way to make a living at this.
You are my inspiration to start taking my drawing seriously.

A lot of people already mentioned it but I've been doing dynamic sketching for just over 3 weeks (started around 17th Jan). You can find the schedule here >>3776598.

>What books/other sources did you learn from?
I initially fucked around with draw a box from the 3/4th Jan, but only did the first two lessons, watched some videos from ctrlpaint trad but yeah dynamic sketching is definitely what I'd recommend.

>How often do you draw?
Initially I did a fair bit for the first week of dynamic sketching because it's easier to do a lot of pages of that stuff, like I did ~10 pages of organic forms until I really understood the basics, did a lot of plants, maybe 3-4 every couple of days, takes me around 1-2 hours. I can't grind for hours like heaps of people here suggest, I just drew when I felt like it but because I noticed I was having a lot of days where I did nothing, I signed up to DAD a few days ago to give me more routine.

>What supplies did you use to make the stuff on the right?
I don't know what to specifically call the pens etc but they're all listed in the videos and probably the threads. Paper is toned tan paper and it's expensive so I draw on both sides haha.

My advice to why I learned quickly:
- Feedback! Very important, post your work and actually listen to critiques. If you get offended, it doesn't help you improve, you have to be open to listening to why you suck.
- Think about what you're trying to draw and try and imagine it in parts. Break the forms down and really imagine them in 3D, imagine how they fit together and wrap around each other - I feel like visualization is a very important skill.
- If you get stuck look at examples or find videos that offer extra explanations.

Pic related has the very first plant I drew when doing dynamic sketching start of week 2 and then one I drew a couple of days a go (still shit) but you can see how I'm slowly refining my drawing process and measurements.

You aren't using your brain when you grid, you're just essentially painting by numbers and the spacing is already figured out for you as well with the grids (the main appeal). Anyone can grid and have it look at least as good as that second image.
Tell a painter to show their linework from imagination of any drawing and you end up with "how to draw anime" type of stuff.

looks very unappealing anon and lacks form yadda yadda, typical beginner things
you should try to learn some basic perspective, learn how to draw cubes, cylinders, spheres etc, because that cup and mic show that you have no idea how those basic forms behave

that mewtwo in the bg is kinda cool, just keep goin and mix some "boring" study in there too together with the anime art you wanna do

Not trying to be rude but this isn't looking good, the proportions, form, gesture and anatomy are way way off.

I suggest you grind at least through the first pages of Figure Drawing by Loomis, learn how to do gesture and then practice from timed poses.

There are some sites like Quickposes but I prefer watching some videos from channels like CroquisCafe. Do it for some weeks and you'll notice major improvements, trust me

I'd like to think that anyone can learn anything but I think sometimes it will be extremely difficult for a person without a lot of help. Like I love music and art, I can appreciate when good music but when I try to learn it, it's like I'm struggling against my nature - however with art, I've always been okay without trying to learn, and I decided to start taking it serious this year and I'm making progress quite quickly. As much as I'd like to make music, learning art is easier and I enjoy and understand the actual process a lot better.

I inked over a drawing I made last year. Back then I didn't like it but I didn't know what was wrong. Now I know a little better. ; _; Any tips for my improved one?

You're still /beg/. Not really such a thing as regressing as long as you're still learning and practicing because you can't output consistency anyways. Just keep going.

Construction of the head looks a bit off. You obviously got lazy with the clothes compared to everything else. Don't get lazy. Hairstyle doesn't make sense because it's in both her eyes and specifically curves into them. It's not practical and doesn't look nice (however I know you're basing off the original so no worries if you already noticed that).

With that said the redraw / inking looks a lot better and you can see a clear years worth of improvement. Keep it up, you're doing it.

And I think what anon means is that my art is a little too 2D and stuck to the page. Life studies is just drawing things from reality and trying to comprehend their 3D shape and transfer the illusion of it being so onto paper.
I think at least eek-

It's threads like this that prove that Innate artistic ability is all that matters. Some of these niggas started out making fine art and only progress, everybody else's "improvements" are either negligible or nonexistent. Nature vs Nurture in action.

Idk wtf all these salty guys are talking about, but this is really amazing. 10 years, yeah okay, long time, but everything else in the picture looks professional. I mean maybe you could work on her left arm, as it looks a little unnaturally bent, but face, body, rendering are all on point! Good job my dude.
