I turned 24 last month and I still haven't gone anywhere with my art, a beginner.

Is it too late? I wanted to do art for a living and everyone I follow was a pro by the time they hit 24, I am nowhere near them. I just don't know if it's possible anymore.

just be smart about your practice. don quite learn to take breaks when you get frustrated. you are not other people, you are yourself, dont compare yourself to others, because it will only discourage you. you will make it if you dont stop trying, you will not be kim jung gi. you will be you. getting older doesnt stop you from selling art, only fucking retards judge peoples skil based on age. even if you are 55 you can still learn to draw or paint and become good enough to shill your art, just take some hgh. you are young enough to get good enough to shill your shit, but dont be unrealistic, you cant be space lord artist of the universe.

Just turned 24 yesterday. I've been drawing since I was a teen but I made the most progress in the last 1-2 years. I'm not trying to go pro, just draw on the side to relax. Might do something more in the future though.

It's not too late. I thought I was literally incapable of doing certain things but I kept overcoming problems again and again.
>pick something to work on
>draw
>FINISH it
>analyze
>see what you improved on
>see what needs more work
>keep it in mind for next time
>study it
Active drawing is everything. You need a clear goal and a way to achieve it. Good luck, fellow go-getter.

it takes on average 10000 hours to get good at something.

Thats around 10 years of your life

If you start practicing hard now you may be good by the time you are 35

How will you fund yourself during this time?

Will you want to be a 40 year old manchild doing babbys first commission?

Unless you have been drawing from when you were 12, you are unlikely to "make it".

everyone is already ahead of you both technically and with contacts/networking

get a real job

6-10 years if you practice naturally.

If you try and force it and study 8+ hours a day, all youll do is burn yourself out or lose interest. Forcing yourself to draw long hours to "catch up" wont work. Same with any other skill.

It really isn't. You can take 50 to 100mg of amphetamine every day for a year without toooo much lasting health problems (source: I did it). On that kind of drug regime it's easy and actually enjoyable to stay up for three days in a row doing monotonous tasks. You could become a master in just a year if you put your mind to it. I'd imagine that meth or coke works even better.

bumskee started at 25, basedboomer brad rigney started even later than that. my aunt started in her lat 60's & has had her gay little jesus drawings featured in galleries. short of arthritis/dementia they're aren't really any innate barriers to getting into art & becoming good at it.
the only thing between anyone and gitting gud is building & maintaining good study habits as part of your lifestyle. this might mean different things depending on your obligations but i've never met anyone who truly didn't have to time to draw.
>>3793328
this is right on the money desu. i think a lot of anons fall into the trap of trying to git gud too fast and then end up discouraged & bitter when going full neetmode doesn't land them a studio job or a top 1/% patreon within a year or two.

Not that guy but I knew a guy in school who started at age 26 and got to pro level in about the same amount of time, however I know for a fact he was putting in 8-16 hours of work every day even on weekends and holidays to get to that level from /beg/ tier. When we would hang out during lunch hour he'd take like 5 min to eat a sandwich real quick and then he was right back to it, drawing away.

It takes a lot more than 4 hours a day to get to that level that fast, even with mentors watching you draw and helping you correct your problems.

The guy >>3796847 is talking about was either some kind of prodigy or he's making it up.
