How do I get this good at digital rendering? AHhhhh

Real answer for you before the thread gets shitted up.

Learn to render primitve shapes in greyscale in a way you like, it can be painterly with textured brushes and visible strokes or it can be clean and digital looking, whatever you like more.

Learn to do the same but with texture on the objects (still in greyscale).

Learn how to pick good colors for those objects and hue shift the shadows and light areas properly.

If you can't paint a nice looking primitive form then you wont be able to do more complicated things and if you need a tutorial on that you probably also need a helmet.

Quickroute: A) Reference lighting
B) Spend way more time than you think you have to on a single painting.

Slowroute: A)Reference will still help but you can supplant that with years of practice.
B) Spend years of practice on all aspects of painting, then finally do a painting.

The painting will take you less time than if you use the quickroute, but it will take you years of practice before you're able to do it.

Ah you might need an unblock youku extension, I think it depends on where you are and what browser you use. There's also a bunch of ads on there so you have to wait like 30 sec for that to play out first. I can't remember how I got past it but it works fine for me now without needing to use a proxy or vpn or anything.

I can't really remember. I think I found some youku art stuff via a different artist's blog on sina, and then went through the videos for this MagicLeaders school and stumbled onto his stuff. I've had them bookmarked for like 5 years, I'm glad they finally were useful for people.
