I don't know how to properly judge my skill level and nobody will tell me anything. These are my drawings I did for an egg drop project Im gonna do for my 3-D Design course.

Of course. Seeing more of your work and knowing your goals would be helpful, but going from your post alone there isn't really any one thing I can tell other than you need to build experience and study the fundamentals. How you go about that is up to you, think of what your goals (short term and long term) are and make a working plan for yourself of how to get there.

Yes it's beg, BUT I will warn you about asking on /ic/. NO one is good enough for /ic/. Frazetta could rise from the dead and show his sketchbook on here and some 12 year old would just lie and say he sucked not knowing who he was.

/ic/ is a part of 4chan and never forget that. There are a lot of people who are actually perfectly good at art and they get lots of unnecessary negative feedback on here. When you're truly good enough you know that it's 90%bs so you end up not using it.

When you start getting better, or probably even right now while you're learning, you're better off making friends who are artists and asking them for critique privately on skype or discord or whatever it is you like.

this comment itself is likely to get some douchenozzle criticizing it as wrong - just know that whoever does that is a 12 year old who doesn't know anything.

Thanks for the advice anon. I was a little hesitant to post here because of the trolling/unnecessary negative feedback I might get, but I figured the good outweighed the bad in the amount of honesty I would receive about my artwork.

If that's your goal start learning 3d immediately. It's unfortunate but you have to go where the market is.

If you absolutely love 2d art, there is no work for you in animation unless you can somehow manage to make that work yourself, like a youtube channel that gets enough views plus patreon or something along those lines.

vector based 2d for educational videos. That sort of thing. But if your dream is like, 2d disney or studio ghibli kinda stuff, unless there is some kind of 2d animation renaissance here in the west there will be no work for you. Take my advice seriously I'm in my 30s and I understand the need to earn a living. Research your market. Put some serious time into thinking about how you will earn money. Even if you have to be a teacher, like a life-drawing teacher or something. Consider these things.

A LOT of good 3D modelers have a foundation in 2D art, because a lot of the skills carry over. Plus, it's a lot easier to learn things like anatomy when drawing in 2D, then carry over what you learned for 3D modeling.

Draw bigger; I don't see a single line that's longer than your thumb.

Use your whole arm and position your fingers further away from the pencil tip -- drawing isn't writing.

Yes, but it could be worse. I like your clean lines.

When practicing your painting you should stop blending (In digital that means using 100% opacity, no jitter). Just pick the colour/ value you want and lay it down.

For finished pieces you can do whatever you like. But when it comes to practicing, this method is extremely valuable.
