If you're planning to become a serious artist someday, ffs keep your NSFW art separate and with a different artstyle from your usual. This is not Japan where they don't care, no matter how much you want it to be.

>> No.3758618

I mean, if you don't care about getting jobs in Art, go ham. Draw as much NSFW art as possible.

Just because you're not going for a standard "art job" doesn't mean you're not "serious".

There is something to consider. But this is not something black and white.

For example one can consider following questions:
> do you want to hide for the rest of you life?
> how exactly are you gonna do it when you have a family, or a close person living with you?
> what do you want at all? Do you want to be a wagecuck, or get betabux from intgernet? Maybe you want your art to be in gallery?

Look at sakimichan for example. How much money she made already, wagecuck artists make that in a lifetime or so~ (depends where you live, world is not all first world country).Does she really care?

>>3758928
Yes those are the entry level questions.

Now I'm talk from my own personal experience:

If you want to do what OP said, you are going to be 2 artists. It's hard enough being one artist.

I'll say that again

>you're going to be 2 artists.

That means you probably have 2 subject matters, plus your studies, plus the work, plus the professional paths. Also you have to promote your stuff and basically... work twice. The hardest one: having 2 styles is almost impossible, you can at least draw in a given "style" or subject for the NSFW stuff but you'll always want to do the same approach on your SFW stuff, or the opposite - for example, you only work with a given flat painting/comic art style for NSFW. You'll want badly to use this for your SFW, for concept, I don't know.

Is it worth it? I don't know.

The person close to you will care? Well, probably he/she will care one day, as much understanding that person can be.

Also, don't try to find the magical recipe. Each case is a case it's own.

Another thing: nobody should be innocent. What OP said really happens. How many profiles do you see online, coming from thin air, with great NSFW stuff in it? They started in a few months and are already pros? These guys are SFW artists doing exactly what you said, and they have their pseudonym. Right now, more than I can count, but I'm not going to be the one trying to "expose" or some kind of shit.

I'm following this thread as it is the big thing in my mind.

>> No.3758941

I know of a few cases where being a popular porn artist actually opened up more doors for people and have never seen it restrict someone from getting a job professionally. You’d probably have to be drawing some truly fucked up shit for that to be the case, and even then there’s cases like >>3758620 where it was uncovered there was shotacon drawn of characters made by the company she was currently working for. Nothing was done and no one really cared.
If you can do the work no one cares. Just don’t include porn in your portfolio, but that goes without saying.

Also, please, take 20 minutes of your day and read this discussion:

https://www.resetera.com/threads/is-drawing-nsfw-art-the-best-way-to-garner-an-audience-online.34718/

This is the discussion from where I made my decision.

Today I do both. A LOT of people do. As one guy said on his tweet, something like: original stuff to keep going, fanart for audience and NSFW for money.

I know one day I'll have to decide, and I'm aware pride will come in on this decision.

What is it then, Burgerland ? The west is not a single country with united culture.

Whatever you do, you only need to be great at it for people to respect you.

a) how good you are
b) what you want to pursue
c) how deranged your hentai is

These are the 3 factors (pretty much in order) of job vs hentai. If you are indispensable people will have a lot more leeway into the weird shit your into as long as it's not literally illegal
If you want a hentai job and you are in hentai, congratulations! You are in the right place.
If you aren't indispensible but your hentai is non offensive, light stuff it might not bother your employer.

All in all it all depends what you want to do, how you want to do it, and how good you are.
