You need to improve on your shading and line work for that style to really shine. And even if you want to go with that kind of line art people can make it work but study all the artists that do have that kind of art but also make it work. If this isn't a finalized piece of art then fine but a lot of study is a great way to improve.

Well, I just finished this one and I think the colors came out ok. I work at 5000x3000 so that maybe why they look wobbly when zoomed in. Or maybe my hands. It's not a cheap tablet, but it's been years.

Prioritize practicing gesture and grab hamptons book from the artbook thread to learn to apply gesture to your construction. It's good you're using mannequins, but they are lookin flat which defeats their purpose. The point of a mannequin is to establish its form (how it would look in 3D). Try drawing one or two curved horizontal lines on the heads and ribcages to indicate their forms. Keep in mind the direction of the curve will imply what direction the forms are facing.

I would suggest you go to the /beg/ threads, they will help you a lot more.

Good linework is wasted with pillow shading. Varying line weight is used to show values, the shading should be simple with thick lines. Look at just about every American cartoon, its mostly flats and forms are implied with line weight.

I unironically love your work and think that you're one of the anons with the most interesting work posting here right now. That said your coloring doesn't really suit the lines, the smooth, clean colors feel like they're done by a different person than the lineart. You should try experimenting with brushes and leave some strokes visible, I think. A more rough and stylized look would feel more fitting to your style, as it is now it's almost like a paint bucket fill and calling it a day after first doing that super interesting lineart.

Yes and no. His character sheets and pinups were always well done, and he had a knack for bringing life to the characters he drew. His renders also improved quite a lot (needs to touch up on color theory though).

He captures body language, detail, gesture, and expressions better than most of the artists here and on the Discord servers. In their words, the way they talk about how he brings their characters to life, is why he's sought after despite his turn towards SFW stuff and personal work. Not to mention his rendering has shown dramatic improvements in such a short period of time.

I never intended to stay past March of 2018, but I turned it into a success. As I joined the Discord servers and became part of the community, who accepted me with open arms, I kept at it.

However, as I read up on porn's effects, my desire to draw porn commissions started to deteriorate.

Even as far back as the Beast Tamers cover, I was devouring virtually anything related to NoFap and the inner workings of the porn industry, its effects. I remember coming to grips how I had become akin to an alcoholic with a wine cellar, concocting his own brew to foster other's addictions. It seemed every day I'd get a commission request or two even as I hiked prices to keep demand to a reasonable flow.

It was roughly about a few weeks after that period that I ended my forty-five day streak and began masturbating excessively. I had plunged back into my addiction.

The hours shuffling between transcription work, commissions, and - yes - my addiction cut into my fitness, my relationships, and my personal projects.

It was then I realized I threw so much of my life away for porn.

Greener pastures, which you acknowledge to your own special extent. A family member of mine has connections with Disney. Over the next couple of months, I will develop a portfolio towards that goal.

If that lead does not work out, then I'll build my skills with animation, float my work around for jobs opportunities, commission gigs, and improve.

I'll do the Level Up Workshop in the coming months with the funds I saved. From there, it depends on where things go.

Hard light shades make that image look terrible. If you are going to pain a lighter tone (receiving most of the white) don't just increase the bright value.
It looks too digital.
The fourth step looks the best in my opinion. Plane colors. If anything, if you want a gradient, add a subtle one for the lower parts of each member and some soft redish gradients in specific parts of the body like knees, elbows, shoulders, cheeks, hands, feet.

That shading is incredibly simple. The only thing that artist did was define hard shading and then blur the edges of specific shadows to soft it up like that one in the belly. Compare the two.
The only difference is that the one on the right has the edge blurred.
Only two colors (light, neutral, shadow) and simple blur to soft specific parts.

I really fell in love with R.Crumb's work and the porn artist, Modeseven. All of the usual influences like Wrightson and Mignola as well as being raised on underground comics like Love and Rockets, Tank Girl, JTHM, Queen and Country, Sandman, etc.
I've had have chronic nightmares for years which have made me very comfortable with nightmarish imagery so i quite like really dark and unsettling themes as well

it's just the default krita 4 medium rough brush but with the pressure-size modified slightly.

I've been practicing a lot on getting the line width down lately. There's also a lot of manually adjusting the line widths at certain points with an eraser. I used to be horrible with this particular brush so it isn't quite something you can just jump into and expect good lines out of.

Sketches look better because they arent finished yet. Mistakes are less important in a sketch than in linework, which is supposed to be perfect. Linework being bad or uninteresting is more important than a sketch being bad or uninteresting.

Your brain is very good at filling in gaps. Sketches are the gaps whereas linework has less room for imagination.

It'll look better when you add flats.

The dudes head is fucked. Literally make the pose yourself, you can do it from your desk. You need to study neck muscles and where the cranium connects to the neck. Ganon's head isnt connected to anything.
