I don't care about anime, I don't care about BNHA
But holy shit this guy can draw some amazing characters. They're so lively and cool. His girls are adorable.

Does anyone have any details on his training? There are almost no videos of him drawing and I only know he went to art school.

Yeah I've seen it, it's a super simple pose but it looks so lively. The shoes look great, the hands look great. The inks are super clean.

I hate how there are NO instructionals on inking from Japanese guys, you can only look at videos and try to guesstimate what they're doing. My inking looks like Moebius or Darrow (not that good of course but the results give that vibe, I've been imitating that style for ages), it's really... dry and flat and textural. Manga inking just looks so good when it's clean

He seems to have taken inspiration from old showa era anime/manga and put his own modern spin on it, with the gigantic perfectly round eyes and tiny pupils that you don't see often any more, but I don't speak for him, this is just my theory.
Also he's really obsessed with hands, so uh, I dunno look into that I guess.

I don't know his training specifically, but he mentions drawing everything "right the first time" so he can just ink directly and not get confused by too many sketch lines. Notice how his sketches are actually very clean. And even in the video that was posted, he keeps his line work confident and clean and goes right to inking.

its good you found inspiration anon, but you have to understand that in everything you posted, the most challenging aspect is anatomy, perspective, and line sense. theres more of course. and its all to capture the characters personality.

Horikoshi actually draws really good hands (see pic related and OP).

>> No.3754221

literally just try to rip off his style completely in your sketches

this is how all artists start, they like a style from another artist and they say to themselves "damn i wish i could draw like him" and they just try to do it.

After a while you'll develop your own style, you'll keep what you like about his and change what you think matches your tastes better.

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS

once you understand anatomy, perspective, and how to do proper line art, you'll be able to copy his style easily. I guarantee that if you showed us your art, the problem wouldn't be copying his art style, it would be that your faces, bodies, poses, perspective and line art are all fucked up.

It's disgusting how a flashy medium like anime can up your rep this much.
Few years ago, when Hero Aca was starting, nobody gave a shit about him.
Even before the My Hero Academia manga, literally absolutely nobody ever gave a fuck about any of his works.
