>There are people on this board right now that actually want to get together and become "art friends"
In case you have not noticed, artists are among some of the most fucked up individuals both emotionally and mentally. We all have skeletons in our closets, and there's a reason why we turn to art as a medium of escape from everyday struggles. You do not want to befriend another artist especially from here unless you're looking for the type of drama that drives people to become heinous or even suicidal.

You are not looking for "art friends" you are simply looking for an excuse to no draw. We don't socialize or communicate with others in the traditional sense either so if you really want to grab someone's attention and become some form of companion why don't you draw something that would allow you to speak in our visual language? Don't say I didn't warn you though we're not what you think we are and you are setting yourself up for a huge disappointment by befriending us.

I can't stand how addicted I am to social media validation. I hate when I post something that I worked really hard on and it only gets a few likes and nearly no RTs. I feel like a big part of this is that I always tweet my art when a lot of my followers are not online.

I know that the best artists who truly make it are the ones who work hard on their art everyday without caring about validation. I'm thinking about just turning off notifications at this point.

The weird thing is that it seems like most of my RTs and likes these days are coming from my Japanese followers (my account has less than 200 followers) compared to my western followers. I don't even understand japanese. So I try to post my art when it's morning or evening in Japan.

I always end up going back to grinding through hands and figures when really it does fuck all to help me draw comics
I keep getting caught up on dumb shit and freezing; last time it was because I couldn't draw a truck's engine, before that was because I didn't like a face.

I went to C95 today, and the amount of really great artists was fucking scary. I want to make good comics but all these people better than me can barely sell

My health is deteriorating, I've always been weak but It's catching up to me. I've been eating clean for three years, working out for more, but my body performs far worse than last year, or before that.
I'm only 20, but often genuinely mistaken for a 30+ year old.

I'm unpleasant, to say the least. I'm neither social, nor funny or interesting. I don't pick up on social cues and become unsympathetic to everyone.
I became disillusioned with people, to the point people say I have "no blood".

Seeing great art makes me want to cry, and I'm pretty stone-dead emotionally, because it feels like I'll always be the consumer. I want to learn how to draw wonderful stories but it feels like I'll never with everything going on.

I can't stand disingenuous positivity from other artists. It just seems so fucking weird, like they feel the need to be overly pleasant to belong or something. Why would you lie about liking something or having fun with some aspect of art that you obviously don't like? I feel like this is pushed by people like Ross Tran or Bobby Chiu whom to me, seem to lie to their audience that all aspects of art are "fun!" And if you say they aren't you're taking it for granted. Obviously I can't say for certain if these people are truely postive or not. But I notice inconsistencies in what they say and I feel like you can usually tell when someone is lying or putting up a front. Like they'll say something overtly negative that doesn't fit their act or narrative. Iain Mccaig for example, I think there is a guy who is genuinely positive because it is in his nature. Not because he feels the need to be, but it is truely in his disposition. This is why I like aspects of the /ic/ crowd. Although most of us are bitter, depressed losers, most of you guys are realistic and honest. I think postivity is great, if it is genuine.

Anatomy is easy to criticize because a fuckup can mess up your suspension of disbelief quickly. Our brains are really familiar with hands, we sense when hands are wrong regardless of whether or not we can draw them correctly. So it jumps out a lot to people, and they'll comment on that if they don't know enough to critique your artistic direction, composition or other choices.
I think a lot of quasi-cartoony, anime-y artstyles can be picked at for human anatomy. When you get to Pokemon or Kirby, you're looking more at proportion and perspective.

>> No.3746391

You need to understand muh AESTHETICS. Look at Shinchan, Bomberman, Kirby, and any pokemon you're trying to bring up. Look how despite not being technically ""correct,"" the style is cohesive and within that style/world/etc. these characters and their proportions seem "right." If someone's shitting on your anatomy in a piece, it's because your ""cartoony"" style doesn't look ""cartoony,"" just wrong.
