I've noticed a lot of people have there own personal ways of doing construction. Particularly in doing heads, faces and figures.

I think it would be cool to see how everyone here does it differently and why you prefer your way of doing it.

When using Loomis after laying down the construction I have to keep correcting the shapes, which makes it breddy useless. Usually I’ll end up with a lot of extra skull area in the top and back that gets erased. Does anyone have the same problem?

YES! I thought it was just me doing something wrong.

The end result still isn't bad after you erase the extra skull.

You fucking morons do not even understand the concept of construction.

You want to know how to construct something? LOOK AT IT, THEN SIMPLIFY IT WITH BASIC FORMS. NOW TRY TO DRAW FROM YOUR IMAGINATION USING THOSE FORMS YOU MADE UP FROM ANOTHER ANGLE . DID IT COME OUT GOOD? IF YES, YOU DID A GOOD JOB IF NO, FIND OUT WHY REFINE YOUR CONSTRUCTION RINSE AND REPEAT.

If you cant draw in perspective just fuck off.

ok, thanks. I'm struggling to really understand this whole construction thing. I've tried using methods, but they all come out fucking shit. I might be much better off using simplified forms.

self taught here

I began reading loomis because this place recommends it for /beg/ tier, so I did. I read it thoroughly and began doing what Loomis suggest and tried to emulate his style of teaching. He taught me about fundamentals. He taught me how to split the face in simple forms. He taught me to a point that I didn't need his teaching anymore because I already engraved it in my mind. When I start drawing a face I do it on my own with little bit of construction here and there, but mostly I do it freely to make it look fluidly. While I am doing all of this I still have Loomis in my mind, I know where the nose would be, the lips and the chin.
