Anyway he is right, a good way to do this is to draw your character in a cube, then apply perspective to the cube. If you know how to divide it to use it as an help for how your character's proportion should appear, it'll put you on the right track.

Forced perspective is another thing though, as it relies more on what the artist "feels" right

Then you're pretty fucking ignorant and naive, and don't know what the fuck you're talking about in any way, shape or form.

Learn basic fucking perspective, then apply it to the figure as you see fit.

Why the fuck do beginners always think that "forced perspective" or "dynamic perspective" or any other goddamn fucking moronic term they decide to invent for LINEAR PERSPECTIVE BEING CORRECTLY APPLIED IN A DRAWING THAT HAS AN EXAGGERATED FOV is some separate fucking thing apart from knowledge of how to apply BASIC LINEAR PERSPECTIVE?

Fuck I hate beginners and their fucking beginner thoughts.

Here, have a video showing BASIC FUCKING PERSPECTIVE being applied to the figure to make WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU EVER FUCKING WANT TO DRAW IN ANY MANNER EVER IN YOUR FUCKING LIFE.

Guess what KJG knows. That's right! Linear perspective! And he's applying in the same way that anybody who can fucking draw will tell you to! Just like Loomis and Bridgman and anybody fucking else!

You're not a beginner but you have beginner level skills. That's not an insult or a put down. Based on your sketches I'd say try to spend more time on realism and save your cartoons for free time. it looks to me like you don't have basic understanding of the forms you use to construct and draw a body in perspective. whenever i draw a body i try to use 3d shapes. i'm no pro, but one of the exercises i try to do is rotating a pose.
https://twitter.com/pine_apa02/status/1070090735733694464

look up krenz cushart's gumroad on pose rotation, and after the 3D rendering engine in your brain levels up you'll be able draw things in warped perspective better

in a lot of situations, because a picture is 2d, you have to do a lot to make it look 3d if you're trying to do a '3d look,' aside from linear perspective, that's stuff like composing scenes that look 'deep' with really obvious overlaps and layers, forcing and exaggerating perspective, forcing and exaggerating poses for figures, using architectural language like structural shapes, holes(windows), and levels to build up the space.

so like try think about those things especially if it's figures, linear perspective is less useful than some showmanship in many circumstances

let's not get into a pissing contest, i just put a lot of time into grinding figures, i have no points in painting or color. i'm still trying to iron out my anatomy and forms too.

i think if OP wants to take a more graphical approach to drawing characters he still needs some practice with drawing simple shapes in perspective. if, say, you can warp a sphere, cylinder, and box in perspective, then you can probably warp a simplified character.
