I dislike manga art style, and I think that beginners should stop using it. It teaches terrible anatomy, nothing is truly '3-d' which is kind of bad if you want to learn real life shit, and it just looks kind of unprofessional, you know?

>Terrible anatomy
Not necessarily. Manga style doesn’t inherently teach anything it’s just a style
>nothing is truly ‘3-d’
Mildly true
>just looks unprofessional
I don’t see how it’s unprofessional just because it’s manga and you don’t like manga? Go tell that to Yusuke Murata.

Manga is just another way to exaggerate the body, which can done convincingly as per >>3694081.

Maybe you just hate the cel-shaded and hard lined look many manga artists have, which has zero volume.

Don't worry dude, all Duner Kruger goes through that "I'm too retarded to understand the qualities of manga styles because my brain right now can only determine quality through the amount of lines/details", you'll get off it sooner or later.

Well you're drawing something on paper, regardless of it being weebshit or realshit it's never going to look truly 3D.

agreed, but not for the same reasons.
>nothing is truly '3-d' which is kind of bad if you want to learn real life shit
Except it fundamentally is. Conveniently breaking rules is a part of stylization.
>it just looks kind of unprofessional, you know?
Unprofessional in what context? If you're talking about already professional mangaka, then you're obviously wrong as pointed out by >>3694081. If you're talking about people who incompetently draw anime and can't draw anything else, you're right.

Forgot to add that I'm assuming that the artist here is competent. Like Murata, Kishimoto and similar professional artists.

I don't mind the art style if used well but I would agree that you should actually learn how to draw before going after that kind of stylization. You cripple yourself in the long run if you don't.

>It teaches terrible anatomy
It’s not supposed to ‘teach’ anatomy. Look at Yohshinari’s stetches, even though his art is so stylized he still taps into his knowledge of realistic anatomy

>nothing is truly '3-d'
That’s part of the appeal. Japs have always drawn in shape dominant styles while Westerners have leaned towards form. They both require fundamentals though, and anime is often constructed with form guidelines that are erased later
