Whose work did you study to improve? And who are the "masters" of today? I'm not good enough to judge technical artist ability so idk who to copy from without forming bad habits.

Post side by side studies you've done.

It really "depends" on what your goal is

Is your endgame to be able to do photo-realistic portraits? stylized portraits? game illustration? and if so, mobile or pc? is it to be a character concept artist? architecture? someone who just racks in lots of cash? or maybe just be able to draw your favorite chinese cartoon

Depending on what you want to do is who you should follow, see similar artists and their portfolios, careers and what kind of work ethics they adhere to

Want some cute girls? look out for Krenz Cushart, Dao Le Trong or Wang Ling

Some good ol' Magic the Gathering/DnD feel? Even Amundsen or Peter Lee

Got interested in Disney? Bill Schwab or Lisa Keene

Want to steal the shekels of the goyim? look into Jeff Koons or Gerhard Richter

Want to do it while milking out fanbase bandwagons? See either Sakimichan or ReiQ

Personally I'm more of a chink guy, so I delve into Guangjian Huang, Lynn Chen, early works of Ruan Jia and Wei Feng among other artists like Peter Mohrbacher or Even Amundsen (mentioned up there). You'll notice they all have distinct coloring or great technical skill, those are the things I'm working on to improve.

I just want to be able to draw portraits, and some other simpler stylized work involving line art and basic colors.

I have a pretty good understanding of how to improve my portrait drawing skills, but I want to develop my own unique style for other drawings, that is relatively simple so I have something that is more immediately satisfying to draw. Preferably something with lineart like I mentioned.

I don't really have a set style but i usually always go back to trying to imitate this hentai artist called Royal Koyanagi. I think its cos I really liked him when I was younger so theres a nostalgia link to it i dunno

Now that i look at it a lot of artist i admire do porn which kind of upsets me cos i want to work in animation yet their styles all don't work too well outside of porn comics, but at the same time i have this nagging feeling to mimic their styles. Maybe when I stop being a pathetic horndog this problem will solve itself haha

Here's this "before bed" sketch I spat out a few days ago. I really like his kind of torpedo shaped tits, looks succulent.

A lot of guys: Sargent, Craig Mullins, Rubens, Boucher. Andrea Del Sarto, Michelangelo, Frazetta... probably others, these are just off top of my head.

Craig Mullins is definitely one of them. Best living artist right now, imo. Then guys like Iain McCaig, Syd Mead, Kim Jung Gi..

I like studying from modeseven's stuff because the forms are there so clearly. straightforward, cleanly simplified anatomy.
