working in a sketchbook/dummy, how to add contrast/color? my pencil-only sketches are underwhelming

in general, pencil is nice but adding something else makes it nicer

1.the crab meme is the worst thing to emerge from this board these last 3 years, retarded beginners immediately latch onto it and use it as an excuse to ignore criticism and parrot it like dumb sheep faggots, i bet most of you cant name an /ic/ meme apart from "crab", "merc_wip", and "loomis" you poser hacks.

2. make sure you're using something softer than an HB if you really want deep blacks, you can use a charcoal pencil if you feel comfortable with not erasing a lot. Grayscale markers usually come in sets but you should just figure out which ones you're draining the most and purchase them individually, you might want to try grayscale paper and work with a white pencil or pastel to push the values a bit more. I like to keep a piece of designated "bleed paper" which i place under the page im working on so it doesnt ruin the other pages when im using ink. The rest of the questions are stupid.
