>Is there an app or site that lets you post to all social medias at once?

Personalize your content to the relevant accounts, you want to offer different value props on different sites so people have a reason to engage in several places. Duplicated content is a bad idea unless you're trying to blast a message on all channels, like a new project you're planning to drop.

>Do likes matter and why?

Yes, if you want to become more well-known.

Likes are used by ranking algorithms and more, quicker likes = more exposure.

>How do you find trendy stuff for fanart, besides what you already know?

Find the big popular thing that everybody's going nuts about in the moment and make content for it
>Fortnite
>Teen Titans Go
>Pokemon whenever a new one comes out
>Infinity War
>Bowsette

etc. Drop a subtle watermark, post it on whatever account you want to boost, and reel in the traffic. Facebook, Insta, reddit, 4chan, twitter, and tumblr all work just fine for this, pick your favorite that you have the most familiarity with so you know when something notable's happening.

Not totally, but there certainly are artists who are more original than others.
I just don't want to look like I try to imitate others, but it's difficult.

One thing I think tho is, a good way to be "original" is implementing stuff to show where you come from. Maybe folklore from your country or stuff like that.

First off, think of high key and low key as artistic styles . Not every photograph (or artwork) falls into either of these categories.

In short the amount of bright versus dark pixels determine whether or not the images is high key or low key. If the image is dominant in light values it is high key and if it is dominant in dark values it is low key.

I suggest you google both high key and low key images and look at the levels in Photoshop. A high key image should produce a sort of laying L shape with a spike on the right side. Opposite for low key.

Is it too late to make it if you are already a boomer? I've been drawing on and off my whole life, but I never really managed to create a nice body of work, rather just been practicing the whole time by doing sketches and what not.

I didn't have internet until only a few years ago too, which is probably one of the reasons for this, because now that I have internet, I find it much easier to find inspirations, references, motivation to create something share, etc. I feel like I finally "found my style" now, and could create something I like, like a comic, or just a bunch of nice pictures.

But when I look at artists who already made, how young they are often, how huge and awesome their collection of works is, I feel like it's already too late for me, and I get heavily depressed and discouraged.

I'm in a similar situation where art is my hobby but I can't ever see it being my main source of income. My question for you is: if you lose art as a creative outlet, what will you do instead? It's very unlikely (especialy if you're not going to put in the hours to pro) that you'll be wildly e-famous and recognized since there are just so many other artists out there.

Does art bring you personal satisfaction/is it fun? Then keep doing it.

Do you feel like you're having to sacrifice your free time making art on the hope that you'll become recognized? Then art probably isn't for you at this point.

Depends on your situation, it's not that you're "too old", but as you get older you have more responsibility, maybe even a family to consider. You have to take serious look at the obligations you have taken on up until this point, and determine how much bandwidth you have for art or whether you are willing to give up one of those obligations to make room for art.

Don't abandon your family or otherwise deprive them, but if you have the finances and want to give an art career a serious go, you can scale back to a part time job or none at all and work on art full time.

Or maybe art is just a hobby, in which case just drop tv watching and similar bullshit and replace with drawing.

Depends on the field you want to pursue. If you want to get into animation, self study and practice are all you need plus a good head for networking. Everyone I know who wants to get into that field is regretting going to art school. Personally I got a really entry level graphic design job, learned the programs and worked on a portfolio on the side and I'm close to 'making it'. No massive student debt and a resume with a few years of work experience. If you really want instruction though just buy individual classes online for the stuff you're interested in and keep grinding your portfolio.

yes, it's used often, and it can either be a tool or a crutch.

You should be able to put down colours in the correct value without having to resort to going via the black and white route. If you can do it, but go by value painting first, then it's okay, as it's just a preferred workflow. But if you are incapable of doing both at the same time, then it means that your value- and colour-control is lacking.

Another thing that many don't seem to realize: overlay isn't a value-neutral blending mode. Overlay will change your values, make the image brighter or darker, unless you overlay a colour with exactly 50% brightness. This can result in unpleasant results.

Also, people often don't vary the saturation when using overlay, which results in a worse image (shadows and highlights becoming incredibly saturated, when in reality those areas are desaturated).

i know you're right, i just usually try to use more organic shapes. i find using those is too confusing for me and i can't really place the features/anatomy on it, plus, i suck at perspective so i can't properly draw forms in space even if i draw with a grid down. i feel stupid

At the end of events sometimes artists will trade their wares with other people.
While I don't consider myself to be that great, sometimes an actually bad artist will suggest exchanging artwork that is priced at the same value but that are of vastly different qualities with me.
I've taken some really bad art just to be polite but to me that's just throwing a lot of money in the garbage, as I'm basically giving them my prints in exchange for trash.

How do you deal with this, or how would you refuse them without discouraging them?

Not as far as I know.
Prismacolor, the biggest mid-high end brand, shoots for a specific creamy/smooth consistency that makes their pencils easy to blend. I think the main intention is to have you put a thick layer of pigment down, which doesn't allow you to see paper through the pencil. I imagine that other brands operate similarly.

yeah you should be able to, but "a few school" is a problem. Since you need to slightly tweak your portfolio to meet the meta of the school you apply to, just in case. A school that cares about contemporary wont care much for your animation/gesture drawing, and a school that cares about animation ( like cal-art ) wont care for something thats too decorative. Research your target and make a portfolio for it ( the foundation of your portfolio should be life studies, and life drawing, and maybe even color study ).
Have 2 sessions, 1 is dedicated for study, and the other 1 your personal pieces. Tweak the 2nd, and have a solid 1st.

>> No.3694054

>>3693862
over 6 months is too much unless it's a masterpiece. 2 years basically does not reflect what you can do now, unless it's a very true to ref study.

And you probably shouldn't include what you have, you need to include what's best. Rather than submitting 15 shitty work that range from 2 years old to a few days old, submit a fresh 5 that's all very extensive and cover all the bases.

The answer is sort of long and dull. Just mixing red paint into your skin tone is a start, but depending on the colors in play, it may not be that simple.

If a red light is the *only* illumination in the scene, then your scene will mostly be rendered in different shades of red (our eyes can't really discern a blue object if there is no blue light in the scene).

If it were a photograph, blues would appear darker than normal, and greens would appear almost black (an object is green because it reflects very little red light; so if there is only red light in the scene, it would appear darker in value).

The easiest way to see is by taking a photo reference (ie, a model with the same skin tone in red light).

The answer is a pain in the ass. Light shifts the color temperature of local colors in halfway random ways. You basically shift everything over on the color wheel.
http://handprint.com/HP/WCL/color12.html

Likeness is pretty easy. You capture dominant features and get the shapes right, while also matching the overall shapes of the head and neck and gesture. There's a proko video where a dude does caricatures that doesn't explain it well, but shows you what to look for. You have to caricature a bit to get a good likeness.

The other thing is the direction of the light. Let's say it's a red light coming on to the side of the face. It will redden the way a cast shadow darkens certain planes. I don't recommend putting 2 grand into a photo studio setup, but I would look at what different lighting rigs do for portraits. It's also the best model ref pictures you can get because photogs can actually take a good picture worth drawing.

How scrawly are we talking about here? It might just be a driver issue. Can you post some pics?

>> No.3697489

I can confirm that it's not a driver issue. I think the problem I'm more worried about is that working on a small surface forces me to use my wrist and fingers to define the line, not the whole arm. Can't post pics right now. Let me broaden my question to ask about what the benefits of a larger drawing space are.

>> No.3697493

>>3697489
I think it's different for everyone, but for me, a larger drawing space feels a lot more natural. I once tried my friend's tiny Bamboo tablet for a while and it just feels awful. A couple of years later I got myself a proper Intuos L and it just instantly clicked with me, almost no calibration or practice was needed. It almost felt like just drawing with paper.
But again, be aware people would have different experiences with this.
