What is /ic/'s opinion on the Feng Zhu Design School?

I'm a complete beginner, 3 months into grinding fundies with the exception of a few fun sketches just for me. I like drawing things that don't exist and am mostly frustrated with myself that I cannot get the ideas in my head onto paper. Talked with my parents, they said if that's really what I wanna do with my life, they'll pay me to study there. Should I do it, or is it a scam? Will help me become better, or just to overspecialize?

I'm not gonna bash the school here, i think it's legit, but you don't need it anymore anon, it's supposed to make you grind hard, if you're doing that already then just keep at it for a bit longer and later on invest into learnsquared/schoolism/CGMA or whatever other online courses are there

>cant get ideas out of my head
because you don't do it. Studying might make you better, but getting your ideas on paper is a skill to be learned itself, you study that by just doing it, not by studying fundies

art skills aside, how do I learn to be a competitive, deadline-oriented, hardcore worker? It seems that in FZD only people with that specific mindset make it, but surely it can be learned, right?

From their school, idiot.

Go to brainstorm/Concept design academy instead, WAY less expensive and just as good as long as you really put in the work.

I have seen a lot of students doing great there (and outside the school) If you have the money and the willpower, go through it. You'll be better than all the people commenting here if you actually put effort.

NGMIs should not apply to this school as you will think it's a scam when you will be the one scamming yourself.

Just friendly reminder that FZD students produce really bad work compared to last few years. Either few more instructors left, or Feng himself was a good teacher after all (I think he works in China now days and doesn't teach at FZD no more).

I was always impressed with their perspective sketches, I guess this isn't the work from one of their premium gallery students?

Not sure what that means, but image I uploaded comes from their FB page. You can see some better work, but it is not rare either. In the past there was no way students would produce this level of bad work, at least looking at the images they showed to public.

you have to love what you do and you need a desire to be the best at it. you should already have clearly defined goals that you want to achieve ("I want to do ___ by the end of the year", "I want to work for ___ studio before I turn __ year old", etc.) nobody can teach you those things. the fact that you're here asking this instead of working towards such goals is a sign that you probably don't love art enough. that's okay. find your true passion.

It also means he doesn't love literally every other hobby enough. Art is the last stop, the bottom of the barrel hobby for brainlets outside of ditch-digging and paste-licking.
