If you count from crotch-waist-chest to get head heights discounting the head itself; the body of all 5-6 Head Height characters etc are 8 Heads high bodies with a big head, at least half a head bigger.

Try it, Are head heights a lie?

The point is that without using the head the body is always 8 heads high in proportions.
The body ratio is always the same, You add an oversized head that counts 5-6 head heights and that's it.

So people learning/ drawing if they tried to memorize 5-6 head height landmarks would have issues if they didn't just see that it's all 8 heads high bodies with a bigger head!

This is so obvious count it yourself, what i want to know is if this is common knowledge!?

Real people are closer to 7 than 8, and it varies a fuck ton from person to person.

You're not drawing reality when you use constructive drawing. You're drawing the author's stylization of the human figure.

Cartoons are the author's stylization of the human figure and their canons are self contained. Analizing them within the context of other canons is a mistake.

Not OP but I think the revelation is that large headed cartoon characters are mostly using the ideal eight head proportions in the body with an oversized head on top, which is what makes them look like stylised adults rather than kids or midgets.

>> No.3628725

>>3628710
But that's wrong. And the examples he made show it, neither the 8 heads nor the 6 heads match with the landmarks of traditional constructive drawing.

Cartoons are their own shit and you need to study their aesthetic separatedly.

You know some styles will make the body be one-half a head or less, right?

As long as there aren't obvious flaws, like breaking perspective or one limb being unintentionally (an important distinction to make) longer than its other half, then anything is fair game. It doesn't even have to be pleasing to the eye, if its ugliness serves a purpose.

Certain proportions remain constant regardless of total head height because the body is designed to fold. You would notice this in other animals as well, and it's also important to designing organic looking robots. Form follows function.

then they're not an 8 head tall character, they're a 6 head tall character. how can they be a 8 head character with a big head? what size are these 8 heads? where did you get this size from? proportions are relative, they depend on the relative sizes of the other parts of the body, if the character has a bigger head, and you make them 6 heads tall, they are a 6 head tall character, not an 8 head tall one with a big head.

this fucker understands his shit, the body is supposed to be able to move in a relatively balanced way, its why the crouch or hips tend to be relatively center for the most part in all variations of body construction from the top of the head to the ground (except literally for children and babies who literally have shitty balance) and thus why arms and legs lend to this proportion cause yeah balance is hard if the knees then were like really high or short after having a centered hip/crouch. You get interesting things from changing this to varying degrees ( stubby legs is a thing but again it looks like it has shit balance or cant run) but most attractive versions of human figure run on proportion steming from the center of the bodies mass.
