i would have recommended him for /beg/ years ago, but today there are a great many more teachers who can do it better.

-try KNKL (if you have a high tolerance)
-moderndayjames is also great, especially for perspective
-FZD will help you build good habits and teach you how to gain mileage efficiently instead of drawing mindlessly and hoping you'll have improved at the end

Fairly accurate. I feel like he knows he can engage with more retards/make more money with the basic videos he does make - rehashing Vilppu, Loomis, Watts. I would be interested to learn more about his painting as seen by works on his professional personal site. It seems like there's a huge hurdle between him making personal videos and rote instruction you'd teach any beginner.

He's obviously interested in a lot more than what he teaches, such as all the Court Jones videos. The "Drawing Advice for Students" videos are a lot more self-aware and hopefully means he'll be adjust his videos in the future since he's covered about all he can milk from anatomy by now unless he goes way in-depth on things like the flexors and extensors in the arm and other minutia (I'm seeing his inner leg anatomy now). I'd love to see him challenge himself more in the free content like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_IytAnahvA but I can understand keeping it paywalled too. I could be completely wrong but hopefully he's evaluating what he wants to do with his channel next year. The guest artist appearances like Westerberg, Gurney, and Blaise made for such better content that I wish he could dive deeper into art instead of staying at the surface.

It's practically his free stuff but uncensored and more time lapse. For me, no it was awful.

that's your own lack of study. no course will help you if you haven't already pursued. scott eaton's is probably the best for learning but it's not a drawing course so you need to supplement your knowledge with Huston, Hampton, Vilppu, etc.

I look at any online content in the context of art degrees that run into the tens of thousands of dollars, and to that end Proko's premium content is extremely reasonable for what you get.

His schtick can be grating but I'd be lying if I said I haven't ever once cracked a smile at some of his terrible, terrible jokes (though none of his deliberate hit or miss attempts at humor compare to his famous kangaroo)

He has the best 3D models around (there are other options though: https://pastebin.com/9VgmQQPk)) and he uses them to great effect in his lectures, which are themselves mercifully brief and easily watched over and over again as necessary.

In short, you could do a hell of a lot worse.

at first it was impossible to even think of drawing 2 hours a day, so i started with just half an hour. this was months ago. now i can draw for 2-3 hours each day pretty easily.
