So I'm not the only one who thinks he sucks at teaching? It's 80% him blabbing and writing and when he goes to demo it just goes over my head. And I can't get his sailboat meme.

Is there ANYONE else who can teach good head construction? I don't mind paying top dollar.

Also the ones that I'm aware of is
-scott eaton
-watts atelier
-loomis
-youtube bootleg watered down "teachers" rehashing watts teachings
-youtube bootleg watered down "teachers" rehashing loomis
-random cgma head construction w/ christian nacorda

Anyone else?

nigga how many sources do you need? If you don't mind paying sign up for an online course where you can get feedback from the teacher. Sounds like you need someone to force your faggoty ass to do some actual work instead of just cruising for courses online.

I do need someone to show my faggot ass but nobody is offering up a good course online with feedback besides the one on CGMA and God I hate that fucking faggot Nacorda can't teach a lick of dick. Like how is that possible? I'm begging to fork over $1k to a good instructor.

This was just uploaded today by the drawing database. 5 hours of in depth analysis about constructing the head/neck.

I guess you can watch a little of it and see if it works for you?

He explained to me how to measure the exact degree with the loomis ball so you know how to actually spin the ball rather than randomly cutting the sides away like a tard. It's like a math problem of sorts though I still have to review what he said to make it 100% make sense in my own words.

So there are 2 to 3 ways to lay in the head in space and the 2nd way is combining the 2 ovoid shapes (huston) but then you need to figure out where are the edges which confused me. You map it out from a box and repeat the shape over like you're using mechanical technique (think robertson) and thats where the sailboat shape can be used to get the right sway back of the cranium. So yes the sailboat shape is Gods tool but I just need to practice what he said more before I say any more.

Sure it's just that after doing a lot of head in 3/4 and sideview the loomis head ends up looking like a sailboat anyways so I just skip drawing the ball.

I watched this the other day. I don't get the problem people have with how he teaches. He's clear, thorough, and repeats the shit that needs to be repeated. I like the way he teaches, but I guess teaching is like everything else. It connects with some people, and doesn't connect with others.

>> No.3610159

>>3610150
I think because so many people trying to learn aren't learners. They're looking for one quick and easy shortcut instead of all the perspiration that goes in to actually accomplishing something. Learning and mastery of concepts is done through repetition and application. Shitters just want the final application.

Not true. Shut your mouth. It infuriates me when I don't know the long way around something. Some teachers click with specific individuals learning style.

Some like teachers who are "hip" and "cool" and try to be on the level of a youngster in explanation but don't go too in depth to either avoid complexity or they themselves don't know the complex issues.

Some like teachers who go straight into explanation without cookie cutting anything. They want that A-list teacher who just demos nonstop. Some like teachers who talk a lot, adding adages to their teaching.

And so on....there are many styles. Not all fit 1 person.

>> No.3610165

>>3610150
I like how he teaches too. Also I personally like the triangle head thing because when I'm doing gesture it's a lot easier to see what angle the face is sitting at rather than on a circle which is like babby's first manga book kinda shit.
Definitely didn't click with some of my classmates but I like the guy.

>>3610159
lmao doesn't everyone? But sadly that's not how things work.

>> No.3610188

>>3610165
I really like how he emphasizes room for error and all too. Like it's not all "you have to make the circle or egg exactly this size". If you go a bit over or under, he says that's okay, and you can usually work with it. I think that's a good lesson for beginners, because beginners sort of go gung ho into it, wanting to be as precise and accurate as possible. Of course, that could be one of the things people dislike about him too. Some people like a more technical and precise style of teaching I suppose.

I combined Steve Hustons long lectures with Chris Legaspi's faster paced ones and with a lot of practice, of course, started to get a lot better.

Also bargue plates (no meme) and actually printing out reference pictures and taping them next to my drawing makes it easier. Also Dorian Iten's measurements tutorials.

Strictly speaking, man there's a lot to learn and research when learning to draw properly..
