Photobashing, 3D model/photo tracing, and layer referencing are tools just like a ruler. Why does /ic/ have such a hateboner over how art is being made?

Is it genuinely just jealous crabs trying to bring other people down? As long as the product is good and no one gets hurt, what difference does it make? If you don't adapt to these modern tools you'll fall behind other people who do.

sounds like you know a lot about being a tool :)

but really most people who are into loomis and actually learning how to draw can only pity people who have to resort to plagiaristic tendencies, it's so far removed from what actual drawing and the skillset therein

Depends. Swiping someone else's work can range from being seen as a homage to outright theft, depending on the circumstances.

For instance, Nick Simmons, son of Gene Simmons, thought he could get away with plagiarizing manga but got his asshole torn apart when he was found out. Things like this do matter, and the difference between different methods need to be carefully thought through.

Why would I want the traced product when I can go get the original?

Yeah, imaging commissioning an artist and paying him fairly and all you get is work that is plagiarized from something else. I'd be very disappointed.
