art like this seems childish, boring and meaningless. I think you should add some flowers, plants, or a solid 3d form to admire in your paintings. Splatted paint is a waste of paint. hey, you asked.

Yet it’ll sell because people who aren’t artistic can identify with it. That’s the genius of abstract work. I don’t like it either but I respect the style as art. Better than furry art. That’s not saying much though.

i've never understood this attitude. you can tell when other abstract things are done well right? like you can tell a high quality table from a shit one even though they both function exactly the same. you can say that you like the shape of one window over another. you can tell a nice arrangement of flowers from a lame one. but you can't tell when marks made with a paint brush are good or not unless they make a picture? very dubious

If it looks like the artist is “trying” to hard to paint abstract then it’ll look like shit. There’s a method to color choice and application. Spin art only looks like quality because there’s a system to it, but if someone try’s to emulate it by painting it too look like a splat.. it just looks like a waste of a canvas and paint.

so when you're judging the colours of wallpaper say, or judging the facade of a building you think about the guy who made and judge it based on what you think he's like?

because that's weird, you shouldn't judge art based on what you suppose the artist was thinking.

I don’t care about wallpaper, I’m not an interior designer.
it’s the physical brush strokes that try to mimic instead of express their emotion. I don’t understand why it doesn’t matter what the artist is thinking, since expression of the mind is in art. If you’re so in your own little world of subjective interpretation, then I don’t really have much else to say but try to get out of that box.

You have a promising future in decorating waiting rooms at the dentist's office!
Jokes aside there isn't much to this, by not applying any shades of red you managed to have a decent color profile that reminds many anons here of the ocean, but there must be something greater tied to art than just color on canvas, otherwise your end result is just as much a piece of art as the palette you laid your pigment on.
