Why don't you people just download some of the free, popular brush packs you can find online and play with those? Years ago I downloaded a bunch of brush packs from Shaddy, Helen Chen, Jaime Jones, Jama Jurabaev, Zedig etc and I never felt the need to download another brush pack again. Every time I see people post these paid brushes or asking what brush some artist is using, I either recognize the exact same brush or a very similar variation of it from those free brush sets.

There's no point in spending money on brushes, anything you'd need you can get online for free somewhere. Plenty of artist put out free shit. All the smudging and blending won't make good art if you have /beg/ tier skill levels. What you find appealing in the brush pack images doesn't simply come from an effect the brush has, it's from the artists knowledge of anatomy and skill using the brush. Something you won't be able to duplicate simply by waving it around.

Hoarding brushes is like hoarding ref or tutorials, another distraction to convince yourself it's making some sort of progress rather than just painting/drawing with what you already have.
