It's that time of the year again. Are you going to actually draw day by day or are you going to cheat and start drawing in september, like everyone does?

i've been learning brushpens leading up to it. getting used to them is hard but once you do you can do a lot of cool stroke work & be way more expressive than with technical pens and ballpoints. gonna try and experiment more with washes too but that shit is hard. doing it beforehand kinda invalidates the whole point of the challenge desu, actually gitting gud is more important than pretending to be gud imo.

I hate inktober, I'm sure it was cool when it started but now all it is is pros abusing another fad for easy publicity. Its got nothing to do with actual learning or growth unless you are talking about subscriber growth.

I tried doing this last year and gave up half-way through. I just couldn't keep pace. I might just reuse the one's I didn't do for this year and the rest will be from some random word generator.

Is this the official list?

Last year I participated in /ic/'s threads but I only lasted a few days. I took shit too seriously, coming up with something decent every day broke me. I had one goal in mind, to learn how to use a pen brush properly, but I gave up on it.
I still have all my tools from last year, mostly unused. I'll give this another shot, hopefully will just enjoy the ride making scribbles without stressing about every shitty mark and idea.

You don't to follow this list. You could just use a list of random words.

Yeah I know, and I'm aware I could just draw whatever, but the idea of publishing something that looks good every day is like a test on its own.
When I took thee challenge last year I ditched the list and started drawing random characters, but even that wasn't enough for me, at times I found myself drawing the same shit several times because I didn't like how the inking came out, then got mad at myself becasue my most "decent" attempt for the day looked boring and ininspired. I felt ashamed to even publish it. Took shit way too seriously and couldn't enjoy the ride, was happy for d/ic/ks that managed to finish the whole thing, especially those that just drew things they liked without fear.

Am I only allowed to draw on paper, can I just draw black on white digitally?

>> No.3589266

>>3589230
Draw seriously but for fun. If you fail, that's fine. It is part of the journey and you have to get it wrong plenty of times to get it right once. /ic/ is a harsh place for shitposting so, do not overthink about what anons say about your art here. Pay attention when it seems constructive though.
We tend to notice what is wrong and rarely spoke a word about what is right. If you receive a negative critique don't think everything you do is shit.
Keep drawing and you will find your own answers, even if it takes time.

this is incredibly stupid and petty. The people arguing for digital only are scared to really step up and commit to the challenge so they are trying to preemptively blame the challenge as a pretext. this is cringy af. also the inktober website says it doesn't give a damn whether they ink digitally but really the point of the challenge is to try traditional partly because there's a challenge in having no ctrl-z.

How does this matter? YOU are the one who has to make these into something fun for you. Even then, you can still do Inktober without the prompt, replace these with your own ideas!
