Shared tangent with torso and his right leg don’t read very well. The dragon could use a bit more value variation, I think you might’ve been afraid of it standing out too much but it’s in the same plane as the merman and the merman’s saturation and position should still make it stand out.

>get developed a lot more
>body weight stuff

Triceps are developed through pushing exercises, and their counterpart is the bicep which is developed through pulling exercises. Pulls ups are "body weight stuff", it really doesn't have to do with "body weight stuff" or "MMA" it just has to do with what exercises you're doing.

Back to my little Megaman fan art. This is going to be a semi realistic painting. I didn't really get a lot of critique from the last thread except that I should move the mouth down a bit (which I've done. Thanks for that). One thing I've fucked up is the lower leg to our left which is pointing too much to the right so I'll fix that next. Anyways moving on to shading. I've already done the background but I don't want to post it yet (he's going to be cropped to be much smaller than he is here with a nice retro scifi BG).

Any crits would be welcome, thanks.

The perspective is very interesting, but the proportions are all over the place. Her neck is too thick. Her head is too small. Her position in the car is discordant with the car's functional steering. It's quicker to describe what's right with the picture than what's wrong with it.

>> No.3590363

>>3590349
There's nothing to redline, redlining would involve redoing the whole picture because nothing about it is really coherent or following fundamentals.

Redlining is good for pointing out a few specific mistakes, but at your stage, you really should study perspective from scratch and do exercises pertaining to it.

>> No.3590366

The sloppiness is probably the biggest issue. If you think it comes across as 'loose' or 'expressive', then you need to understand that it doesn't, and that it rather simply looks unpolished and sloppy. The marks on the front car especially stand out as lazy and poorly done. Just look at it - it's a mess.

There are so many things bad about that piece that I don’t know where to start. There is a grey area where some artists are between /beg/ and /draw/ and this piece is way below that line. If you peek in the current /beg/ thread, there are artists well above this. Getting kicked to /beg/ isn’t a roast when you’re near or below that grey area, you’ll get better feedback from the artists there rather than trolled or ignored here.

i would really go to town on that shit if i were you, just go crazy trying to get interesting textures and colours and see what happens. the way you've done the girl there never looks good in paint, looks okay in printmaking but it always rings hollow in paint where there's so much room for bravura

i mean really go crazy, like put bits of newspaper in there and huge black strokes and all kinds of madness

this is a reoccurring problem i've noticed. i'll get to a point where i'm almost done and then stop. i know how to start a piece but i don't know how to finish one without over polishing it and losing any character that it originally had.

any critique and help is appreciated, thanks.

To finish a picture, use smaller and smaller brushes to paint in details around area of focus. Here it's the face. The biggest problem is the detail difference between the hair and the face. If you will add more detial and hard edges to the hair (especially the top of the head) it will start look finished. You don;t even need to work on more stuff since its not the focus, so it doesn't matter.
