The times have changed, whoever "made it" back then, would have a very hard time today.
The competition is unbelievable today, everyone and their grandma have dA, Instagram, Fb, Yt, and so on.

If you guys would've started in 2008, you would have a chance. but now? are you kidding me?

People keep posting that souless overrendered art and claim the important thing is the high skill level and not the piece itself
>"Having that technique level will help you as an artist in anything else you do"

But has that asian dude or someone similar ever done a work in a different, more expresive style after becoming Render Masters? Anything to back up the claims that going hyperrealistic makes you grow as an artist? Without that I'll just believe it dulls your mind and makes you incapable of drawing cute, artsy or dynamic shit

I know him, he's a nice guy.

He's also really clever. He had a background on traditional art and then basically started cranking the same animuh stuff 24/7 because it made him bank.

Nowadays I'm not sure if he can draw other things other than stock anime/frazzeta hybrids, but he's a happy go lucky guy making money doing something that's very easy to him, living in his hometown and raising a family as a stay at home dad.

(I'm envious)

doesn't matter how interesting or nuanced that webcomic idea is in your head, if you don't have the technical skill to do it justice in a visual medium for even your own work, what reason is there for your clients to trust you with theirs?

>> No.3576982

>>3576968
Nah I feel you, if this were a still life fantasy illustration it'd be absolutely fine. Miura however struggles with movement and panel composition in terms of action, just look how the line of action shifts from the sword pulling up the panel, immediately to a downward one with the weight of the sword pushing against Gut's stance. It doesn't read very well and takes a second or to for the reader to figure out the intent, which actually extends to many of the fight scenes in the whole of Berserk. Miura's art is very distinct and well executed as individual pieces, but as sequential art there are honestly a lot of artist who have a better understanding and grasp of it than he does.

So nice when he became art director for a card game he gave himself almost half the set's cards for a couple sets straight overworking himself so hard he got sick and fucking over his colleagues. He also categorically refuses to admit the only reason he grew so fast as an artist when he joined the companyw as because Mauricio Herrera and Andres Silva were pretty much carrying him in their back while he learned.

Hijacking thread. What's up with shitty artists rendering like "gods"? I mean it probably isn't that good to the trained eye, but being someone who only knows how to paint by carefully using the Fill tool I am amazed at how your average Deviantart member who draws like my doodles from highschool being able to make an image look so professional with so many effects.

Are those automatic? Like the filters people put on photos to make it look like they're pros but they didn't actually do much?
Or did they stop caring about drawing when they got to a "good enough" level and instead focused on the digital coloring tools? I don't know if I'm explaining myself too well but I notice it a lot.
I could sketch or trace that girl to my notebook with a pen but it'd just look like trash in black & white because the drawing itself isn't that great... but somehow these people polish it to a pro level. I'm impressed and salty
