Does drawing individual body parts help? I swear my figure drawing isn't getting even a little better after a year and some months

>> No.3574393

Post samples of your figure drawings from when you began and from now.

>> No.3574407

>>3574390
It won't help you much if you don't know how to put it on the body to begin with.
>>3574395
If you think you bad at everything then yes, practice everything.

If you're bad at hands then sure drawing hands for a while helps. If you're bad at noses drawing 100 noses helps. Don't get confused though, if your figure drawing is shit it's probably not because of some body part.
You need to do figure drawing, and change your approach if you aren't seeing progress after the time you claim.
And don't take advice from amateur weeb youtubes.

What does help is studying anatomy from books (Richer, Peck, Bridgman, Hogarth,...) or videos (Rey Bustos, Proko). Understanding the bone structure, the anatomy, the tendons and studying other artists' interpretation from the old masters.

isn't that the guy testing fighting games sticks etc in the middle? why is he in there?

I'll post something later when I can. I really feel like I have no set process for it and that my brain is still drawing a flat thing in 2d space.

>> No.3575083

It does, but if you only draw body parts, you will be good with body parts, not necessarily full bodies...

he moved on testing drawing character sticks now

You´ve been working on it for 1,5 years but don´t have anything to show what your level is now? Come the fuck on.

I feel you anon. What helped me is watching the process of great artists like steve huston and karl gnass and adopting their way of thinking. Hopefully you post your work so that the better artists here can help us.

Yeah I'm sure they just drew without ever studying anything or learning from people better than them.

That guy theyre interviewing is a professional mangaka i think. And they regularly have a pro animator on giving advice

maybe, perhaps the problem is you don't draw enough. because usually you'd just try drawing body parts for a week or something and see if it helps. seems odd to have to ask unless you draw so seldom that you really need to make a hard choice on what you have time to draw.
