Hi, I'm starting up an indie game studio and I have a few projects that I need some art for.

I tried a quick google search, I assumed there would be some kind of website where I can post want ads for artists but I haven't really found anything.

Any suggestions?

Note: I'm just getting started and I don't have a huge budget. So I'd like to get a fairly new artist who isn't yet established and expecting to get paid a lot (unless the game becomes a hit of course).

Let me ask on 4ch.
Indie =//= no budget.

So you're saying people get paid in exposure and royalties to avoid saying its basically free work, great.

Not trying to aggro you, but what kind of budget are you talking here? Numbers, please. Because many people's idea of a "huge budget" is absolutely unrealistic compared to the kind of work they expect to get consistently, how much of it they want and how fast they need things to come.

Keep in mind no one with a skill (even unknown) and half a brain will want to take a chance on a complete stranger online and work primarily for royalties, and every developer thinks they have something special cooking.

not sure how i should structure payment, im thinking around $500 - $1000 for all the art assets for my first game. It's a very simple game so not that much art will be needed. I would imagine it could all be completed in a week, 2 at the most. If you post a sample of your work I'll let you know if I'm interested.

That does bring up another question. How should i structure payment for artists? Per drawing? Per project? Hourly (please no)?

You want 3 months worth of work. I've learned to translate these things.

Not really. I'm going to do all the art myself if I can't hire a decent artist. I actually know a bit about creating art and music, and I can also code, do game design, and marketing. I imagine my studio will be quite successful. It's a bit sad that so many people abuse the anonymity of 4chan to make baseless accusations against people who have better things to do with their lives, and are trying to accomplish things.
