If you’re like me, then legs are a hurdle for learning human anatomy. Post your drawings of legs below and let’s share and critique. The leg day challenge is all about not avoiding full body anatomy, and practising all aspects of the human body. Beginners and experts all welcome. Share even if you do t like it and know it’s wrong, maybe you can revive tips. Sorry for file size, posting from my phone.

In all fairness knees are hard dude. They're like the hands of the leg, and then you still have the feet-which are much like a third pair of hands-to contend with.

>that tfw feeling when even while you're looking straight at them in a high resolution photograph you don't know what the hell is going on with them

They're much more straight forward in an anatomical illustration than they are in the real world aren't they?

I actually really enjoy Hogarth's style but I feel like, in much the same way that Bridgman is loose (often to the extent the viewer in many cases might find themselves lost and in need of a guide), Hogarth is rigid (as opposed to "stiff") to the point where he's creating these constructive, almost surrealist H.R. Giger-esque interpretations of the human figure and its extremities.

It's pretty fun stuff to try and draw in either case.

Does the iliotibial band not form relief on the surface forms of the body? I noticed right away that Hogarth never draws it. I don't mind having a clearer picture of the biceps femoris and vastus lateralis-but not at the expense of overall accuracy I guess.

(though if I really wanted true to life accuracy I probably wouldn't be pulling from Hogarth's Bizarre Anatomy to begin with, would I?)

I've studied feet before and had the impression that I understood how the structure works out and was also quite happy with the way I was drawing them. But looking at those pics made me realize how the transition from the metatarsals to toes actually works and how that influences the shape of the foot in various states of flexion. I feel kinda dumb.
