All I could find was related to strategy guides, which is pretty much a standard for such old games. Heck even zelda back in the day was just featured in the old nintendo magazines with a couple specifically created nip artworks, like any game ranging from nes-snes-64 really, even the majority of ps1 games.

Artbooks really started during the ps2 era, since more ppl began appreciating the artistic aspect of games. Basically you'll have a hard time actually finding "artbooks" for older games, but some of their artwork might get grouped into a big franchise collection book, like Breath of Fire as example.

also check pic related, since I can't add the links here

Sucks that there are not artbooks for older games tho. I though that since Zelda got a compilation artbook other series would follow suit.

well only really popular and well known games usually do. But you could always try finding some pics and promotional artworks from older games on google, which in turn might lead you to galleries and stuff which have an archive of said game, featuring in-game artwork and rare promotional pieces that only made it into old game magazines and posters.

I get this is just a shitpost just to make people insecure, but it is also very obviously a post made by someone who doesn't draw.

There is no book/ reference so good that it makes any real improvements to a person's work in just a week or two. There's also no artist alive that's gone cover-to-cover squeezing out every drop of value from every book and piece of reference they own. Like anything 90% of the utility comes from 10% of the information (see the Paretto Principle).

If you drew yourself, you'd know these things.

I am mostly into landscape and scenery (digital) painting.

Composition of outdoor painting by Edgar Payne and Alla Prima II by Richard Schmid ARE really good and valuable.
As for the characters, Basic Character Sketches by Ryo Hirata (Advance Wars artist) is a nice reference book.

Learned a TON from these and they were shared not long ago.

Can't afford them right now but I will probably buy two copies of each as soon as I get on my feet.

So, yeah, there are books around here that will help you a lot.

There are definitely some pearls in there. I love my own personal Art book collection. 20 years ago I went to libraries to borrow them. But now most library's have disappeared so this is fantastic.

"Grid drawing is actually useful."
"Simplify everything and start from silhouette."
"If you want to draw human body from every angle freely, forget anatomy and learn silhouette first."

I tried around with the settings a bit and this is probably the best it gets without taking the book apart, if that's good enough i'll scan it over the next week.
The book has a lot of Amano art since it covers FF1-6 so some of it is also already in The Sky, but there's some Nomura art, concept art, pixel art and art for enemies and bosses.
The second book covers 7, 8, 9 but that only comes out in december/ is out in japan and the third book proably won't be out until mid 2019 or as said in japan right now

amazon.co.jp sells some things internationally. You can see if they send it to you somewhere under the description.

A more viable option is to buy trough a third party site like buyee.com which gives you access to the entire catalog, even the used stuff which by the way is very viable since the japanese take very good care of their stuff. This can be pretty expensive though, especially shipping in big packages.
