prove me the fuck wrong. i've spent so much fucking time trying to find a quality, realistic painting featuring long curly hair that has been rendered properly and i've found jack shit.
somebody for fucks sake prove me wrong because im losing my mind

how tight of a curl

tight.
for what its worth this is the closest thing to realism i've seen thus far.

if youre going for realism, the longer the hair the looser the curl. unless youre going for heat-styled curled hair but even then the curls will fall under the weight of the hair. (courser textures will keep a curl easier obviously) so I don't really know the level of realism youre looking for

yeah im not really sure how to describe it but something like pic related ideally.
i dont want to have to result to photobashing like the other anon suggested but i will if i feel theres no other way.

your fundamentals are seriously lacking if you think this is difficult. it's time consuming, sure. but really. keep up the studies.

i understand the fundamentals of hair and am capable of drawing most different types but my problem is that this very specific type of curl seems so inconsistent and messy it feels near impossible to replicate

im not doubting that more studies will help me improve but i want to find comfort in knowing that those studies will not just be a waste of my time.

its like painting leaves on a tree so just follow a foliage tutorial but apply it to hair

>i understand the fundamentals of hair

that's not what he said you naive little person
you don't understand the fundamentals of fucking DRAWING at all, you know, doing everything in Loomis' successful drawing and all that shit
you can't so it's fucking beyond you that something like "curly hair" is just as simple as being asked to draw a bunch of cylinders

>> No.3524973

>>3524941
waaahh read loomis waah
how about you post an image of said cylinders?

wahh wahh I can't draw but I have all the answers and I will will refuse to believe that I can't draw because of my fragile ego wah
how about you go be a failure elsewhere thanks pal

if you need to draw every single fucking clump of hair then just do this and figure out the interactions of hundreds of fucking instances of this bumping into each other
so hard wow literally impossible wah wah

and if you can't see the basic shapes that hair creates in these drawings then you definitely need to bone up on your fundamentals more

if all you're asking for is "a reference" then you aren't asking "how to draw" you're asking "how can I mindlessly copy something because I don't know how to draw but need to think I can by knocking off some shit off instead of spending time learning basic fucking concepts of drawing"
