In reality, there's not such thing as "deep" art.
A lot of what's considered "deep" is just art where the artist just included a slight hint about a theme, so the audience could put all their different interpretations into it and claim it is something bigger and fuller than it actually is.

In short, "deep art" is open for interpretation.
Which, ironically, means that it should have too much deep on it.

I don't think any of these artists were trying to be subtle, so it seems strange to criticize them for being too on the nose.

Art can have many purposes and making a piece with a subtle hinting message isn't going to get the point across.

These artists have a message, a societal critique and they want to communicate that message with their art. You may disagree with their message, but I for one applaud most of the artists way of communicating that message. It is very direct and clear. There is no confusion about what they are trying to convey.

The artist made the piece to communicate an idea. We see their piece and understand the idea being communicated. It is a successful piece, from the artists POV.

Making a more subtle piece with ambiguous meanings isn't going to do the job of communication any better. It might be more fun for us to look at the piece and wonder what the artist meant. But that would be a failure for an artist who wants to communicate a clear direct message.

An axe wouldn't be able to chop a brick wall down... Actually, just scale the wall, it's shorter than the mans height. Or just hop the fence right next to the wall, it's even shorter than the wall.

Or just go through the normal gate then take a right and walk on the shorter path.

Really poorly executed. There are so many better ways you could depict this concept.

I'm struggling a bit with this. I don't use a smartphone and at my job people are getting annoyed by that because I don't have access to all the main message apps.

Now on one hand I don't want to give in at all, I want my life to stay tangible and not controlled by devices too much, I don't really need a smartphone.
But then again, it's getting really annoying sometimes as people more and more demand me to explain why I don't use one or why I don't use a whole lot of other appliances that are considered "normal" nowadays. It's getting tiresome.

The fledgling plant in the parched earth being watered by the small family with Trump giving a "go ahead" gesture while neutralizing the snake's threat means that there are here the conditions to finally (after a period of drought and danger if you will) cultivate American family values. The various veterans in the background, some injured, fought for our freedoms. The various people of different backgrounds show that these freedoms are shared values and are revered by Americans regardless of race or gender. Keep in mind these freedoms include the 1st Amendment freedoms, which are the linchpin of freedoms for artists, which almost reflexively makes this painting a sincere show of appreciation for this from the artist. The father tending to the soil represents symbolically that the masculine aspect of the traditional family structure is the individual who labors to provide materially for the family, *not* the state, which truly and ultimately fails at providing a father-substitute/mother-substitute for it's nations people. The mother poised to water the plant represents the traditional maternal aspect of the family household--the mother has equally important responsibilities as the father in maintaining a stable household by nurturing emotional well-being and serving to refresh the soul of the household from the destructive elements of the natural world. The parents, who have their eyes on the prize as the daughter pays attention and learns, work together as a team to raise this fledgling plant which represents the modern American family--it's soil parched by the political insanity of hypocrites trying to lead themselves and others astray from what gives many a life fulfilling meaning--creating a stable, nurturing self and family which promotes the self-actualization of all involved, not just those within the family but within the nation as a macro-family.

Duchamp did that on purpose to see how many people would think an urinal could belong in a museum.

one of the things, that made me realize there are characters in manga/games that seem to be stupid and others wont listen to them in serious situations, but since its fiction its like they actually matter.

actually just found this:

I think something about recognising America's successes with the shit things its done? Like America isn't all mickey mouse and hamburgers, it's also napalmed lolis. But that was happening without US involvement so idk, maybe Banksy doesn't know much about the war.

I mean, the excessive blue light from screens can be pretty bad. Books don't blast light in your face which is nice.
It is also partly just old people paranoid about technology, but I just wanted to put that out there.

Is having different political opinions something that needs to be "stopped?"
I hate these shit political cartoons, so ham fisted and not subtle at all. It doesnt even evoke individual thought.

>we treat veterans like shit
I dont get why people say this.
Maybe it's because I'm on Texas but veterans are like always given priority treatment.
Plus they get full lifetime retirement and free college. How is that treated like shit? I get that their mental healthcare is kinda crap, but that's because mental healthcare is crap.

Maybe police brutality is bad and murdering cops is also bad.
Imagine being so braindead you can't even understand moral nuance in a retarded political comic.

>> No.3538525

It's just a message that's at odds with itself. It's fine to have nuance if the actual message is nuance. But the messages are a giant sponge in your face. But in this case you have 2 giant sponges both slapping each other on your face.

>Then why is it that Republicans always seem to be more mature than Democrats?

They don’t.

>> No.3538634

>>3527400
Its because you're republican and see only the extremists of democrats.
moderate democrats make the most logical sense. the thing about republicans, even moderate ones, is that they still have focus on traditional values which will often come to objectively bad conclusions. things like teaching creationism in school or saying that we should keep saying christmas instead of holidays.
I come from republican areas, most the time these arguments aren't rooted in giving people a chance or any logical decisions, its people not wanting change even if the change doesn't hurt them. And more often people just bite into the extremist views and start buying obvious bullshit.

You can't fully defend democrats either, but if you think calmly about the essence about what they're trying to say usually it makes more sense. Like I hate tranny culture and all that bullshit, but at the end of the day, is there really going to be that much of an issue letting a tranny into your bathroom? If some dude gonna be a creeper, he's gonna be a creeper legal or not. Taking a shit isn't exactly sexy.
