A few weeks ago my friend and I saw a painting created by a girl isn't very attractive, and my friend said, "Wow, she drew herself more attractive than she actually is." and I'm scared that this happens to me because sometimes my friends see my drawings and sometimes I draw myself. So, how common is this? Does this happen a lot? Should I stop drawing around them??? (Also, if you could, criticisms would be appreciated)

this is incredibly common op and it's nothing to be scared of!

sometimes when we work on self portraits, we create the versions of ourselves we truly want to see

like a persona of sorts

also you're style is very pleasant to look at and i like the sketchiness of it!

Literally only autists care about this kind of shit. And then you have autists caring about ugly people drawing ugly self inserts

If you’re worried about autists caring then don’t draw yourself

Or actually just don’t draw

A few years ago I remember reading something on the internet that said when you look in a mirror your brain makes your face more attractive than you actually are. I don't if it's true though.

Drawing is for expression. You practice accuracy only to lend a sense of believability to your work. Anything that isn't a study can be whatever you want it to be; things you wish were real, real things you wish were different, or real things that you appreciate just the way they are because they evoke a certain feeling and you want to capture it. Art is supposed to be for you above all, judgement of others be damned.

Or not drawing like a /beg/shitter

When doing portrait commissions you always want to make the drawings a little bit more prettier than they are. You don't want to make them ugly or they are not going to buy it.
