How do I get better without practicing?

I do practice everday for 8 hours though, you presumptuous, obnoxious cunt. Obviously I can't learn how to cartoon things properly without some kind of guidance on how to think while drawing the cartoons. There's obviously some sort of principles that cartoonists use that I just can't figure out. I don't know where to find any good guides when it comes to doodling them, whether it comes from cartoony details or simple things like rubber arms.

I've only been practicing how to draw from real stuff, hence the shitty OP pic. I have no idea how to approach, and when I see images of really good artists making cartoony drawings I just can't find anything consistent in how or why they draw certain things. But at least the post made you feel superior to me so you can fuck off with your pointless posts.

Yes I see the irony in that last sentence.

after careful analysis of your post i come to conclude that you have a low IQ, in fact it is so low that you'll never be a succesfull artist.
Cartooning isn't done under 'guidance', it is doing the way you like them and it requires a somewhat high IQ.

Construction drawing, my dude. Break things down into simple, defined forms that you can draw consistently from any angle. This goes for drawing in any style.

>> No.3513522

isn't most of cartooning taking what you know about realistic proportions and exaggerating specific parts like eyes mouth nose?

in short you simplify and exaggerate the body, like having a long torso, or maybe long legs stuff like that. also what the other anon posted about construction helps

Thanks! I wish I could elaborate on the details part. I saw an image on /co/ that shows exactly what I mean. Anyway this is actually great advice.
I've recently been able to imagine in 3d space so using construction had slipped my mind but I realize now that although I'm trying to practice not using construction I probably shouldn't rid it completely because it can still be helpful.

Are there any good resources on learning shape language and how to properly impliment it?

Not sure if it will help, but look up Preston Blair's book on cartoon animation.

Yeah its mostly an animation book, but theres a lot of good sketches i there that shows some cartoon body shapes.

Im pretty sure you can find the whole entire book online in pdf form
