With so much years of art history behind us and many great artists alive right now is it even possible to come up with a style that is both unique and appealing and not gimmicky? That no one will be able to call a rip-off of someone else's style?

Why does everyone need a unique style?

Every type of style which could possibly exist has probably already been done before, so why focus on this one aspect of art alone? Just develop a style you think is nice, and focus more on drawing interesting ideas, and concepts. How you draw things usually matters a lot less than WHAT you draw.

What about Cubism mixed with Ancient Celtec mixed with 19th Century Academy art? Never been done as far as I know

The true god component is composition and not style.

style includes composition

I focus on my style.
I focus on my composition.

Those two sentences are entirely different in meaning. With style most people mean a focused aspect while with composition they mean a broader direction that applies to the entire artwork.

No one cares about your fetish about arguing about correct definitions. You belong to the lowest group on this entire site that ruins all kind of discussion for arguing about semantics instead of being intelligent and respectable enough to focus on what the person really meant.

You people don't realize that most people don't care about language so much to be 100% accurate with everything they express. There are professions and hobbies where this kind of skill is needed and where it matters but in reality any decent and intelligent person will easily understand what you meant, and if they don't they will ask the other person to explain more clearly. I don't know how it's possible for this community that focuses so hard to bastardize words for their own memes to be this autistic not only about words but also too autistic to imagine what other people think.

education is the watchword of the board though, so correct definitions are in keeping with the general milieu. plus it's often the only way to get people to think about anything.

perhaps my point was that viewing composition and style as separate issues is ultimately detrimental.
