Feels good man. And I didn't even have to go full furry. I don't care if this thread is redundant, but if you got your simple anatomy right, fine lines right, your color theory right(learn how nips do color), and tasteful filters right(don't overdo layers and specially no photoshop burn tool ffs), you'll make it.

People at walmart don't do shit. You stand around and barely do anything unless you're a cart boy.

You could be in the back where the bikes are and draw alllllllllllll shift long because nobody buys bikes anymore. I'd rather get paid that $11/hr then come home with a better paycheck than you're making and find time to draw again.

The best of both worlds.

Have you tried working there? Customer service is the shittiest job front and back. Have you ever wanted to be yelled at by a random fat lady while her kids crying and vomiting on the floor where you have to clean it up later? Im guessing no.

Never been to a large Anime convention huh?

Fanime was just this past weekend. Artists like Rei 17 flew in from overseas to sell at the artist alley. Sakimi was selling in the dealers hall. They easily make 10-15k selling their art over the event. Theres about 10 cons every year where good artists can reach those numbers in the US and 30+ smaller ones where they can hit 5k+

Weeb power is just growing stronger and there's more demand for weeb merch than ever before

It's extremely bad, the absolute dregs of society shop there. Spending five minutes in there is enough to crush your soul.

the whole thread is a crab advice, all the asians who have made it already paint their whole lives and were active in the online art community for over a decade. Ofc Rei will take home a huge haul, but she is also one of the most popular artists there is. Some newbie animu artists will go home with maybe 50 bucks, probably less if you're a westerner

>> No.3451995

>>3451986
You don't have to have the online presence to do well at cons. Most of the people buying buy via first impression. The amount of people going to con just to buy art from someone they follow is miniscule compared to the people who don't religiously follow artists online and just there to window browse. So you don't need to be as popular as Rei 17 to make that money just be comparately skilled or cater to a different niche.

Also right now the hot items are charms. You only need to be able to draw Chibis to cash in on that

I will give you that the good artists are like 90% Asian though. Even the local ones are mostly asian american

This guy had a pretty packed table at the con and sold a lot of prints.

https://www.instagram.com/bearthemighty/

He barely has a social media media presence and going by his Instagram he doesn't even look like he's been drawing seriousky for more than a few years (most of his improvements look recent)

This artist made 10k+ at Fanime selling those charms and kpop renderings.

Her art style works extremely well for charms and kpop has huge cross over with the Anime con crowd and she had the only semi realistic kpop stuff ( there were a bunch of anime-fied kpop stuff though)
