So I can draw lines, but how the hell do I digital paint? When I start painting over the lines, the lines become covered, then pretty soon I have blobs of paint and it made all the linework pointless. So I've been trying to just skip linework and straight jump into painting, but it's just all smeared thick paint lines and it doesn't have the accuracy of linework.

How do I escape this catch 22?

Overlay the linework in a multiply layer (reduce opacity as needed) until painting is refined enough that you don't need the lines anymore.

Paint over the lines if you dont care about the linework. But beware you're gonna lose some of the detail if you do.

paint with opacity on pen pressure

Be decisive. If you keep color picking around and going over areas with low opacity you will gradually gray out all of your colors.
