I need a ligthbox.

Are the Huion ones any good? The amazon reviews on them are solid enough, but I'm worried about how frail/flimsy they might be.

DIY lightboxes need not apply. I don't have a single carpentry bone in my body and I don't want to piece of glass or plastic just lying around my studi.

some balsa wood or poplar, plexiglass(or real glass), a light socket, an extension cable, basic knowledge of how a hammer(or nail gun) works and you've saved yourself some money.

This. Stop being a lazy millennial. Home made ones are superior.

They're literally like $60. Maybe your time is absolutely worthless but maybe OP's isn't.

I'd rather spend money on something I know will work than 20-35 fucking around with supplies I have no idea how to use to end up with a product of waivering quality.

Homemade light boxes are actually much, much worse than the cheap Chinese ones. They’re bigger, heavier, harder to store, less luminous, and require tools that add to the cost of the box if you don’t already have them.

God you people are really useless aren't you? OP says, "I don't want to build one." and everybody pops up in here telling him to build one because you're more interested in being morally superior, rather than actually useful. I hate this board.

Anyway OP, I bought one of those cheap lightbox LED panels. It's nice. Small and portable, but flimsy in the way that cheap Chinese imports often are (loose cord softe plastic in places), so... Caveat Emptor.

The Huion one looks a bit sturdier, though.

Still better than trying to put together a box out of wood scraps and lucite.

Get the $70 one instead of the $30 one. Problem solved

I have a Huion lightbox and it's good. After a few years of light usage it still works

I've had Huion tablets and they've all had good build quality, although shitty drivers. That being said, it would be the easiest thing in the world to DIY it

another way to dyi it would be to get a broken lcd screen and just rig it so the backlight is permanently on and then put some glass over it if you need a hard surface

i dont think you would need drivers for this
