CSP = Krita
boils down to which one you're more used to, since they are both more or less the same quality
White PS you're not really getting anything special and you have to pay a subscription, not really worth it

While art is not a rich man's pursuit, a digital artist stands to make much more than a classical painter.
Someone who has a digital copy of their art not only has the capability to sell prints, they don't have to worry about shipping.
It stands to reason that digital artists can adapt to market demands and meet the expectations of their clients much more quickly.
It is also a fact that women generally like money.
The women in this photo are laughing at the sad little retard who sits in his basement shitposting instead of producing "fine art."
You are nothing but a pathetic insect, who stands no chance of finding a long term partner.
That being said, the gene pool will be better off without your influence.
Stay poor.

Bingo.

Best bet, since none of you guys pay for the programs anyway, is to just try a bunch and make up your own mind. It's not the program that's going to give you the ability to draw anyway so it'll come down to personal preference.

How well it fits for the job out of 10 multiplied by how familiar you are with it.

Lineart in sai but you have no idea how to use it? 10 x 1 = 10.
Lineart in Photoshop but you've used it for years? 3 x 10 = 30.

Even though a program may not be as good objectively the fact that you're familiar with it makes it a better choice. If you're gonna have software wars, please consider that it takes at least a year to switch over competently, so your software of choice having this one great feature nothing else has doesn't really mean anything.
And if someone has been tweaking their custom made brushes they can't work without for the last decade then telling them to start over is laughable.

Food for thought. There wouldn't be so many different art and image edition software avaliable if artists hadn't been trying to stop using PS as soon as it released.
Hell at the time it released people refused to let go of Adobe's own Illustrator for it, and just a couple years after they made After Effects and Flash to "solve" some of it's problems by having to use multiple software to get the results you wanted.

You know there are no real artists in /ic/ because real artists rejoice every time an alternative to PS comes out even if in the past most of those alternatives fell short. Most of the people I know who work as editorial illustrators today are using Illustrator, After Effects, SAI, CSP and Sketchbook Pro

Anyone get to try out Paintstorm Studio yet? From what I've seen of their Youtube demonstration video, it looks to be a pretty solid program. Mostly been too busy to give it a go myself. Full version costs only 20 bucks.

I really like Krita's brush system where you can make the custom set that you like under one list and swap on the fly. I like CSP but damn I miss Krita's brush selection system. Shit was fire.

GIMP is a little more interesting for artists lately because they recently integrated mypaint's brush engine into the program in version 2.10
I would still use Krita or Mypaint over gimp though.

BTW, does anyone remember Gimp Paint Studio? It was a huge add-on for GIMP that contained a ton of brush presents, palletes, textures, etc to turn GIMP into a somewhat decent art program. It was okay for 2010 when Krita was still pretty shitty.

I never used Krita, so what does "swap on the fly" thing mean? Can you screenshot an example?

>> No.3424566

There is no right answer, it really depends on the kind of art/style you're going for

my vote goes for Clip Studio Paint,
it's super simple to use and has everything i need to make the art I like

then again you can make any art on any program, it's just that certain programs can help you achieve it faster and easier depending on what you're going for
