I'm struggling with line confidence and it's probably due to lack of gesture drawing. What are some exercises you have found to help? I already went to a live drawing group but I was unlucky to come in on the last session. Any tips ?

Just do gesture drawings

Try measuring proportions out first and doing the gesture on top of that, that way you'll only have to focus on one thing at a time.

Do Peter Han’s Dynamic Sketching course. If you can’t afford it and don’t want to pirate it, do Draw A Box. The first sets of exercise in each are drills to develop confident lines.

But also, what >>3409920 said.

Find good reference. The Croquis cafe is ok, but videos where there is a clear action are better, like sports or dancing.

And it's ok to do 30/60 sec for pose, but it's also ok to take your time to fix it, if you think you can do it better.

I have already done a few of both but I find Han and Drawabox most helpful for construction and shading volumes.
