I’ve come across 3 threads today with anons screeching about how they don’t need loomis or structured study. As in way more heated than the standard whining you hear. (There have been more in the past week as well)

Is this the state of /ic/ now or is it just one idiot who throws a fit each time they’re told that there are no shortcuts? I’m hoping for the former

sounds like you are afraid to get your world of construction memes shattered by the fact that you can learn in many different ways.
is "your way" the only way?

You must be new here, otherwise you would have known that this is a yearly event that occurs not just on /ic/ but across other boards in general where newfags and normies start flocking in and not integrating with the customs or standards of a particular board and we call this event Summer.

you know structured study refers to said variety right. a variety of methods all taught by different pros. we’re on the same side, don’t be so quick to “me unga, you bunga”

structured variety is fucking oxymoronic. you need to put in the hours and you definitely need contrast, but you sound like the parent of an autistic child. i bet you also make composition formulas.

I feel like I've been in a long summer on /ic/ for over 4 years.
Someone put me down.

i started with loomis but branched off to hampton soon after. his method just fits me better. i can understand that most anons here prefer loomis because his work is very beginner friendly- and there are more beginners than there are intermediate or expert artists. that’s what i think, anyway

nothing but extremism with beginners: tracing is either the greatest evil or the only way to work, loomis is an useless hack or the best teacher ever, etc

So much this.
