you could check out john robinson's work, it's mostly seascapes but if it fancies you, you can try to get his videos. there's a total of 5 or 6 floating around, 1 watercolor and others are oils.

Literally just paint what you see. That's it. It seems like lame advice, but you'll get really fucking good at it if you put in the time.

Once you've got something on paper, you can start to think about water as a volume / translucent entity / light refractive nightmare.

But seriously. Just draw what you see. Don't make your water look like someone else's water from another place and time and different reference. Don't draw what you think water should look like. Just draw what you see. That's it.
