Some of these are blatantly copied, but I don’t get why some like game screenshots are being compared to a stylized portrait? Where does the line between “tracing/ripping off” and referencing become blurred? Is it not okay to do photo studies anymore? Studies are fine, but he puts them in his portfolio and patreon. He's profiting from other people's work and his hypocritical behavior doesn't help his image.
For the sake of the argument, let's consider those as studies. Those are fucking terrible "studies", there's no emulation of the artists' brush work or their unique way of drawing different expressions, or the models' anatomical details, etc. you know, things that people actually do studies for.
What's actually happening is he copies pictures that attract plebs (mostly models, anime characters), make it more "pop" (saturated colors, big eyes, etc), and when he gets called out, he'll say those are studies because they technically barely qualify as studies.

You develop the skill you apply yourself to. Illya spends most of his time imitating other art and applying a cute girl filter to it. He's constantly rewarded for it, so he never has the pressure to develop otherwise.

On the flip side, FKMT spent 3 decades drawing manga people considered ugly/boring, and editors considered too niche. This was the pre-internet days, so no likes/comments to keep him going, just him and his instant ramen in a dingy apartment until he made his breakout hits Akagi/Kaiji. He was going to git gud or starve. Illya is already fat, it's hard to push yourself when you're already eating lobster and drinking starbucks doing what you do.

This. Not to mention Asano takes his own photos. He goes outside and searches for places that would fit in his manga and composes the shots exactly how he needs them. Then he practically redraws the whole thing in ink to make it look consistent with the characters. Meanwhile Ilya does a quick google image search and slaps a photoshop filter on top of it and it shows in the end result. Comparing these 2 artists, they are worlds apart even if they use the same techniques on the surface.

I used to look up to him till I saw his manga, and realized I'm a better artist than him. Making manga/comics really shows your limitations as an artist as you're constantly being pushed out of your comfort zone and drawing things you're not used to, from angles that might be difficult for you. Guess Kr0n was only ever good at drawing sameface portraits, with a certain style. Outside of that, he's really not that impressive desu.

what bothers me more is that it seems the more money he gets from retards the more lazy he becomes, everything I see from him now is lazy monochrome pictures of girls, mostly busts, not even shaded or anything, just like, the lineart with some pastel color background and then maybe once every 1-2 months you have a finished drawing/painting that is either a redraw of something or the same girl with a painted over background
