Fun fact: all the “drawings” in Bridgman’s books are in fact giant chalkboard illustrations he did on the fly in his classes that were photographed and inverted. They were many times larger than life-sized and drawn with a piece of chalk on the end of a long stick.

Yes, explain to me how a sloppily drawn figure with arms that are too short, a torso that's too thick, lack of definition between the sternum and pectoralis muscles, forearms that look like he's wearing a pair of coffee cans around his elbows, no serratus, an abdominal plane shaped like a dog's nose that projects from the rest of the body via a smooth 7 inch plane etc. does anything for anybody? Bridgman is without a doubt the biggest meme in the art instruction community. His work is the proverbial broken clock in which for the hundreds of images contained in any of his books only a handful could be said to be worth a damn. Don't try and lecture me, fucker. Anyone that isn't a tool can look at Bridgman's shit and see that it belongs in the trash. Any experienced artist will tell you that to study Bridgman you need supplementary photographs, but in so doing they're betraying the fact that Bridgman's work itself is far from being useful to study from, itself. Leave meme-man's work in the trash where he himself left it. He knew that these drawings don't make fucking sense and he'd have never approved their publication, himself

It's not supposed to look hyper realistic. Its supposed to show how you use boxes and wedges to construct a figure. That's why it's called a guide to drawing, not "bridgmans book of realistic human figures"

That's just because most of /ic/ is begs who are frustrated with their unsatisfactory work. Instead of working on it, they start "my teacher is better than your shit teacher" dick-measuring fights, just solely to reassure their ego.

That's why you don't see pros getting into this kind of heated black-and-white arguments on fucking art books, because they're actually content with themselves and need no shallow outlet to reaffirm their self-perceived superiority.
