You can draw a cube just as well as a pro after some practice. You have a recipe to make fundies work. It's mathematics- it is right, or wrong. Fundamentals are the only thing you will be able to master in couple months and see progress on a short term.

Doing illustration/ design takes years to master.

But, the process of being forced to learn something can change you into a more independent learner if you recognize the fact that you had to stick with something boring in order to gain the skills. The difference is that after a few months of lifting you know pretty much anything relevant about lifting and from that point on it's all just going to the gym and doing your routine with the occasional adjustment.

Meanwhile not even a lifetime is enough to learn anything relevant in art.
