How I make lineart with these little details like Kamome Shirahama? Does this art style have an specific name? She's so awesome at this.

Should I copy old books illustrations with a lot of hatching or what?

the technique is kinda self explanatory, you just do what you see. you're using the rhythms & contrasts of the hatching to guide the eye across instead of contrasts of color. otherwise, the same rules of value apply, you're simply arriving at them through negatives of space.

read guptil's books and books on etching if you want more of a guide, but getting gud at this style is largely just a case of observation, study & practice. play around with different styles of hatching and see how you can give the effect of different textures. drawing this way is fun but it takes fucking forever

people to study:
>franlkin booth, pic related
>bernie wrightson (rip ;_;)
>nicholas delort
>gustave dore
>albrecht duher
>winsor mccay

is it possible to do this kind of thing digitally?

yes, he did some stuff with a cintiq at the angoulême festival

I guess so, but it would be much much harder. There is some convenience, something easy about traditional media that not even a cintiq can beat.
Before people call me a crab, I am a digital artist, but I am well aware that I draw just a fraction of what I could be drawing if I was doing it traditionally.

yes, the tools you use will pretty much always affect the result. the ability to zoom and resize means that your hand movements are not consistent over the pic, which gives it a certain character. there are a lot more things that influence the work that youd never think about.
i think its best to use the tools you use to the fullest and not try to emulate other methods, some things dont translate too well.
of course you can always get inspiration from anywhere, but if you feel you are working against the medium it usually dont turn out so well. and you also get further if youre having fun.
that said, i think its worth a shot, doo iiiiit!
