I've fallen off of drawing for 2 years, everytime i try to get back in i get discouraged/sad and feel like quitting.

How can i get back into the swing of things?

Instead of doing nothing but shitty boring "fundamentals" and refraining from drawing things you like you should incorporate them into your practice. For example occasionally I'll look at some illustration I like and copy it. It doesn't help much skill wise but at the end I have a nice looking picture as opposed to the trash I usually end up with. Finishing a piece and thinking "That looks OK" is a good way to want to keep doing something and to trick yourself into thinking you're making progress.

You need to be properly motivated. Are you sure you even WANT to draw? It requires years of dedication. Reminds me of a story:

A young man was waiting for a subway, and he heard an old man, a street performer, playing violin while passerby's put change in his basket. It was the most amazing music the young man had ever heard. When the old man was done, the young man said, "Sir, I would give my life to be able to play like that." So the question is, do you want it bad enough? What do you want to draw, and are you willing to dedicate to it? If you don't have clear and strong motivations, you're just going to keep quitting.

I feel you anon, minus the anime pic.

I've taken a 6 months break from drawing because my depression made it unbearable, I legitimately wanted to kill myself out of frustration for not being able to draw like I wanted to. Now I'm taking a whole lot more antidepressants and I'm trying to ease back into drawing but it's so frustrating and I can't seem to find the energy to do multiple hours sessions like I used to. On top of that I have realized I don't know how to practice and I have no aim in particular other than the fact I'd like to make a comic.
