I found out that trying to find reference or irl stuff is holding me back as its difficult to find something that potrays what I want to learn well and I have a feeling that the finished product will suck even if I draw everything correctly since the reference is so uninteresting.
Recently Ive told myself to draw everyday so I've been redrawing art that I find here or twitter, tumblr and trying to learn from the artist and correct their mistakes occasionaly. Does anyone else do this? Is this a good way to learn shit?

My 2 cents on it. When you are a beginner you should focus more on studying from life and photos, first you need to understand how reality works, build those fundies.

Afterwards when you are more comfortable at representing reality and have those fundies down it's important to know how to make your work appealing, give it personality, make it art and here it's where you should study other artists that you really like. Also having a knowledge of the fundamentals will help you better understand how other artists do things and why they do them in that way, making it easier for you to pick up their strongest points.
