IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.

Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.

RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:

#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead

#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller

#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new (and cleaner) sticky in town! You can see it at:

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

No, that way you would learn from your mistakes. Try and draw from imagination and then look for references similar to what you've drawn and see how bad you messed up; in this case you could figure it out by trying the pose yourself and see how far you can turn your head without snapping it.

It is and he is crabbing you. Even if the artist used a stablizer, he probably did not put it on a high setting and was probably just using it to get rid of the wobbly lines caused by drivers. The reason the lines look so much nicer in the original image is because a lot of the places where you placed 2-5 lines, he placed one. It's a matter of line confidence.

If you're using a small tablet (like the intuos small or bamboo sized), there is unfortunately no way around this.
If youre using a medium sized tablet or larger, then the best way to get accurate lines is to rotate the canvas so the direction you are putting your line down is comfortable.
You can still zoom in, but zoom in so that the start and end of your line are both in a position where you can draw your line without having to extend it with a second one.

You don't learn proportions from boxes, you learn perspective and how to draw boxes. If you want to learn proportion draw from life/photograph.
If you've grinded geometric primitives, drawing from life should be easy, just remember that whenever you draw from life, you shouldn't be drawing the contour, but the forms, as 3d shapes. And remember to actually consider perspective.
CTRL+Paint has some good videos on thid subject, namely "Form, Not Shape" through "Exaggeration".

I just downloaded Keys and read the first few pages.
Lets say you started drawing a month ago. How are you unable to put a pencil to paper to make a line? You don't have to draw a complex subject if shoes are too complex for you, draw a box, or a book or something. You don't even have to fit the whole thing on the page, just draw the lines you see.

Either way there's a lot I would have like to fix if it weren't for the fact that I'm terrible at getting things in the first few tries so it's completely fucked by smudge and eraser marks. ?????????????????

They explain how to make them. The lines in the example have both incorrect proportions and angle measurements. Do I need to spoonfeed you? You look at the object. You see what angle it is by comparing it to an imaginary vertical or horizontal line. You draw a line in that angle. If its too long, erase part or all of it and then continue. Repeat this for the rest of the drawing.

>> No.3371393

>>3371349
This is why I asked how long you've been drawing. You take as granted the abillity to semi-accurately reproduce the angle and length of a line. It's not something you can "just do" with no experience.

I think maybe it has something to do with the desire to not just be good at something but also be a "prodigy"(not a literal prodigy) as in you don't just get good at it, you get good at it faster and with less practice. Because of this it feels like if I were to draw something good, but only after attempting and failing to draw it 10 times beforehand, whatever I drew that was good is somehow "illegitimate", or even just having drawn something poorly makes me feel dirty.

It's mostly a matter of which shapes they split it into, but the core idea is the same.
You can work what shapes you want to split it into on your own really, if you want low-realism cartoon/anime style, you wanna go for spheres, if you want more realistic styles, you go for square-ish shapes.
Square-ish shapes are way easier to position in perspective though, so even if you're doing an anime style, it helps to visualise your character in squares, and then just work from that.
Knkl/Proko's video on body construction/foreshorteining helped me a lot.

Don't worry about it. That advice doesn't really apply when the pose is something from an angle like this. It's mostly legs so draw the flow of the legs. seriously what is the way this kind of schedule would work? i assume most artists have jobs, if fulltime they could still fit in 4 hours if they eat small and fast. but is that really all you would do for a year? how do you fit in your hour long exercise every two days? or even make time for real life studies/trip to the store/the 'chon. and of course to add onto this, like i said i dont think the person who made it counted "extra curricular" drawing within that four hours and that you would be expected to draw even more than four hours if you wanted to draw what you wanted
>inb4 >>>job
the image even says you need to have a good computer and buy all these 100 dollar books and tablets and shit, i for one would just pirate them myself but that wasn't even the recommendation. i feel like that image needs more than just routine but an entire section on how to even live life

this redline is by no means perfect so don't take it as law, but I tried to flesh out your shapes more, the biggest issues I see are the fact that her left arm is too long and her shoulders aren't defined enough. I'd recommend drawing from reference a bit more, spending about a fourth of the time on any one pose as you did that one just to grind through a bunch and commit stuff to memory. some anon who's more competent with the nitty-gritty anatomy stuff can correct what I did here if they want

Geez, try some longer lines. Capture the gesture with one curve rather than 50 squiggly lines. The first attempt probably won't be perfect, but this is digital so just keep redrawing until you get the curve your looking for in one stroke. It'll train your muscle memory and eyes rather than a bunch of tiny shitty lines.

I have a discord server where we host online figure drawing sessions. we stream a figure drawing video and everyone draws from the the same reference in real time.
https://discord.gg/Pt6BKp6
it's not meant to be used as your primary art server though because it's only in use when a stream is starting. because of this, we do not have reference/critique channels, but feel free to give useful pointers when you join one of our figure drawing sessions. we stream figure drawing videos through the watchtogether site and talk in vc as the video plays. please note that you will be notified through the @everyone tag when a stream happens and ONLY if a stream happens.
